Will you choose Him?
Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ,
who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings
in heavenly places in Christ:
According as he hath chosen us in him
before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children
by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
To the praise of the glory of his grace,
wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will,
according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times
he might gather together in one all things in Christ,
both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance,
being predestinated according to the purpose of him
who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
That we should be to the praise of his glory,
who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance
until the redemption of the purchased possession,
unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1: 3-14
And we know that all things work together
for good
to them that love God, to them who are the called
according to his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate
to be conformed to the image of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate,
them he also called: and whom he called,
them he also justified: and whom he justified,
them he also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things?
If God be for us, who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all,
how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8: 28-32
Justification for the guilty
Herein is love, not that we loved God,
but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1
John 4:10
...God, who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches
of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians
2: 4-9
...the kindness and love of God
our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us,
by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life.
This is a faithful saying, and these things
I will that thou affirm constantly,
that they which have believed in God
might be careful to maintain good works.
These things are good and profitable unto men. Titus
3: 4-8
... when we were yet without strength,
in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die:
yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood,
we shall be saved from wrath through him.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God
by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled,
we shall be saved by his life.
And not only so, but we also joy in God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received the atonement. Romans 5: 6-11
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were
not redeemed with corruptible things,
as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition
from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you,
Who by him do believe in God,
that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory;
that your faith and hope might be in God.
1 Peter 1: 18-21
... it pleased the Father that
in him [Christ] should all fulness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind
by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh
through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable
in his sight:
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled,
and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel,
which ye have heard, and which was preached
to every creature which is under heaven...
Colossians 1: 19-23
...ye were without Christ, being
aliens from the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope,
and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye
who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
For he is our peace, who hath made both one,
and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity,
even the law of commandments contained in ordinances;
for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross,
having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace
to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God...
Ephesians 2: 12-19
Hereby know we that we dwell in
him, and he in us,
because he hath given us of his Spirit.
And we have seen and do testify that the Father
sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God,
God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known
and believed the love that God hath to us.
God is love; and he that dwelleth in love
dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4: 13-16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with
our spirit,
that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God,
and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him,
that we may be also glorified together.
Romans 8: 16, 17
What is needed for salvation?
A good question... and the best answer.
Therefore as by the offence of one
judgment came upon all men to condemnation;
even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came
upon all men unto justification of life.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,
so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign
through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:18-21
The disciple Matthew made an application
of an Old Testament prophecy wrote:
And she [referring to Mary] shall bring
forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is,
God with us. Matthew 1: 21-23
Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all...
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:
by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;
for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isaiah 53: 4-6, 11
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus,
whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Him hath God exalted with his right hand
to be a Prince and a Saviour,
for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5: 30, 31
Therefore let all the house of Israel
know assuredly,
that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified,
both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart,
and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles,
Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children,
and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Acts 2: 36-39
Repent ye therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come
from the presence of the Lord... Acts 3:19
Blessed is he whose transgression is
forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no guile...
I acknowledged my sin unto thee,
and mine iniquity have I not hid.
I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD;
and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin... Psalms 32: 1, 2, 5
...if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him [Jesus] from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith,
Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved...
How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace,
and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10: 9-15
...suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations of the prison were shaken:
and immediately all the doors were opened,
and every one's bands were loosed.
And the keeper of the prison awaking
out of his sleep,
and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword,
and would have killed himself,
supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying,
Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling,
and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out,
and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Acts 16: 26-31
Neither is there salvation in any
other:
for there is none other name under heaven
given among men,
whereby we must be saved. Acts 4: 12
... if our gospel be hid,
it is hid to them that are lost...
2 Corinthians 4:3
...the Son of man is come to save
that which was lost. Matthew 18:11
Know ye not that the unrighteous
shall not inherit the kingdom of God?
Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves,
nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners,
shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you:
but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified
in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God...
And God hath both raised up the Lord,
and will also raise up us by his own power.1
Corinthians 6 :9-11, 14
Jesus answered and said unto him
[Nicodemus],
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God...
...Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born
of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God...
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:3, 5, 7
But we all, with open face beholding
as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the
Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
I speak after the manner of men because
of the infirmity of your flesh:
for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to
iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to
righteousness unto holiness. For when ye were the servants of sin,
ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those
things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things
is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants
to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting
life. Romans 6:19-22
Therefore we are buried with him by
baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans
6:4
...whoso keepeth his word, in him verily
is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John
2:5
...if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
one
with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from
all sin. 1 John 1:7
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of
him, because we keep his
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name
of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us
commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth
in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us,
by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1
John 3:22-24
But of him [God, the Father] are ye in
Christ Jesus,
who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness,
and sanctification, and redemption:
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth,
let him glory in the Lord. 1 Corinthians

Jesus said:
Search the scriptures;
for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me. John
