| Day 1 SKOPJE Departure from the hotel in the morning. Visit of the City museum housed in the house of Old Skopje Railway station. Crossing the river Vardar, we will reach the Old part of the town and visit the, so-called “Upper town” - the walls of Old Fortress (Kale) that offers a panoramic view to the city. Nearby is the biggest mosque in Skopje, Mustafa-Pasha mosque, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Macedonia (complex of Museums of History, Ethnology and Archaeology) that hosts the biggest icon collection in Macedonia. The Old part tour will end at the church of St.Spas (Holly Salvation) the most famous church in Skopje, with its marvellous wooden iconostasy. Late afternoon we can have a lunch in some national restaurant in Old Bazaar (Charshija) and taste some Macedonian specialties. Overnight in Skopje. Oprtional: evening walk on the banks of the river Vardar, the bigest Macedonian river or Skopje night life. Day 2 SKOPJE –OHRID Departure from your hotel in the morning. Driving to Tetovo (half an hour from Skopje) In Tetovo we will visit the Coloured Mosque, one of town symbols. We continue the tour passing Gostivar and Kicevo. (2 ˝ hours) Arrival in Ohrid in the afternoon. Walking tour in the old town. Visit of the church of mother of God Peribleptos. We will spend a few minutes on the grave of the famous macedonian poet Grigor Prlicev, at the church courtyard. Nearby we will visit the Antique theatre (currently restored), the old Ohrid fortress and famous Plaosnik, with excavations of the early Christian basilica, (currently restored). Reaching the centre of the Old Ohrid town, we will visit the Cathedral church of St. Sophia and the Museum of archaeology, the Robev house. Launch brake. In the afternoon we will have a walk through the centre of the Old town – the famous Ohrid bazaar (Charchia). Here, at workshops of famous Ohrid (majstori) you can buy some traditional handmade gift like silver filigree or Ohrid pearl. Late afternoon departure to Skopje. (3 hours) Arrival in Skopje in the evening. End of tour |
