Female Collector Alert!
Mei, July 24, 2004

It may seem unusual for a female to collect toys meant for the boys. But it is one of my hobbies. I grew up with toys around me, from G.I. Joes to Legos to Barbies to Matchbox. But those toys are long gone. It is only in 2002 that my love affair with toys re-emerged. As they say, love is lovelier the second time around.

I collect mainly movie action figures, but I stay away from the scary characters. I am not a completist. I only collect the action figures that catch my fancy. Plus I have a limited budget for toys. Next to movie action figures, the Mattel Justice League is my favorite. I love the cartoon show!

Now, why "The Baroness"? To my collector friends, it's obvious that I am referring to the Cobra character Baroness from the G.I. Joe cartoon/toyline. A ruthless and ambitious enemy of the Joes. I use the name "thebaroness" in message boards and bidshot. I guess I'm stuck with it forever. I collect some of the vintage G.I. Joes and I have recently acquired the Spytroops and Valor vs. Venom 2-packs. I am fond of small toys that's why I am more inclined to collect G.I. Joes, Disney Magical Collection and maybe, Gashapons.

In 2003, I went into an impulse-toy-buying spree, which led me to accumulate toys that I realized, I really don't like much. I will be selling most of these toys at cost or with minimal mark-up (to cover gas, effort, etc). Just go to my toys for sale link.

Click on the links to view my collection, browse toys up for sale, check my auctions on bidshot, or just lurk on the message boards I frequent. My pin collection (Hard Rock, Disney, Olympics, places I visited, etc), which has taken a backseat in favor of toy collecting, will also be featured in this site.

Lord of the Rings Coronation pack

The difficulty in finding and getting LOTR figures at standard retail price made me lose interest in this line. So, I finally decided to just retain those that I have and stop buying...but not before I get the Coronation Pack!

Personally, at 1,450 pesos, this gift pack gives the best value for money. First, we get Arwen. This is the same Arwen released in the single pack, that is being sold 3x as much as retail price. Second, we get Eowyn in dress. The fact that this is a female figure just makes it really valuable. Lastly (and for personal reason), Faramir just looked so gorgeous in this set. On the other hand, King Aragorn, who is supposed to be the center of attraction of this gift set, is the least appealing. But since I didn't get the single pack few months back, I consider this a bonus. As for Eomer, he's just there to complete the set.

Justice League Darkseid

I finally got the missing figure in my Justice League collection. I am not really impressed with this figure but it completes my collection, so it is valuable to me. When I say valuable, I don't normally mean it in monetary sense. It's more of the satisfaction I derive from having this figure.
