Nicole Rowian
Name:
Nicole Rowian

Where she lives:
Currently, out of her *ahem*not stolen*ahem* sailboat. She moves from place to place, making a living out of her magic and talent.

Place of Birth:
The Alaskan tundra, exact location unknown.

Age, Date of Birth:
19, (Assuming it takes place this day/age, 'cause I really am not finding much information, sorry guys) DOB= April 21, 1987

Occupation:
Modern-day minstrel/streetsinger/thief. She uses her magic to make both honest and dishonest money.

Magic:
Musical. She can play any instrument well, though if she doesn't know it then it takes magic. Also, she can sing well, though that takes a bit of magic as well. With instruments she knows (Guitar, flute, trumpet, drums of most kinds, no magic is required to merely play, as the information is just in her mind. Perhaps her most valuable talent is her ability to weave spells into all her music, sung or played. Depending on her amount of strength, and what spell she can remember, she can wreak havoc with energy, emotions, and some raw materials. Her magic takes on a pinkish-reddish color, like a sunset.

Family:
She supposedly still has her father in Alaska, and -very- occasionally writes to him, but isn't really a family girl.

Appearance:

Hair:
Dark brown, wavy, cut short to her shoulders but usually in braids or a loose ponytail.

Eyes:
Hazel, longish eyelashes and dark brown eyebrows

Face:
Oval, kind of round

Build:
A little on the skinny side, but otherwise normal

Height:
Medium height, about 5' 7"

Other:
She does have a few freckles in the summer, and both her ears are pierced. She'll usually wear a treble clef in one, and a bass clef in the other, or some other musical paraphernalia. The treble and bass clef help her control her magic sometimes; they store a bit of it for her, to fall back on, just in case.

Clothing:
Aside from the earrings, nothing abnormal, really. Usually she just wears a pretty nice T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and some sneakers. Nothing nice, unless it serves a purpose of some sort, is her unspoken motto.

Personality:
Well. Nicole's a straightforward kind of girl; down to earth, she doesn't like to beat around the bush. When she does, it's usually because she's either teasing, or embarrassed. She enjoys a good joke, and has a very cynical sense of humor, most likely inherited from her father. Her sarcastic wit tends to sting more than a bit, but it's worth enduring her jokes if you get to know her; with her music and vengeful side, she's definitely a better person to be allied with than against. Once she's labeled you as a clear friend, and not an idiot, she&'ll stick up for you with tooth and nail. By friend, I do mean that she will not jump to the defense of someone she's only recently met. She's got to know you quite well, and know that you're worth defending.
If there's one thing she can't stand, it's stupidity. If she sees you as stupid, you'll have to go to a great deal of trouble to get her to stop thinking you're stupid. And until she does so, she'll be less then civil, if quite that.
Though it would take a heck of a lot to get her to admit it, Nicole's quite vain at heart. She likes her looks, and, if occasion permits, will spend hours in front of the mirror in the morning, combing her hair. She won't even admit to herself that she values a guy's looks a great deal, but she does, oh she does. She does have a mild OCD kind of thing going; she doesn't like the area around her to be cluttered, and has to restrain herself from picking up litter and the like. This can drive some people insane, but clutter and junk drives her insane, so it all evens out.
One other thing is that, while she isn't very fond of the other side of the law, she will do what she must to survive. If it comes down to stealing a sandwich for lunch after not eating for a day or so, she'd do it, but if it was just a whim, she'd never. She probably wouldn't be at all eager to kill, but like I said, survival is what it comes down to. That, and the fact that since her parents lived entirely off the land, killing, skinning, and otherwise preparing their own food [and if she wanted to eat, she helped], doesn't make her very squeamish.
So basically, she's a pretty nice person. She will be loyal to her friends, to the death, but if you didn't know her you wouldn't want to get on her bad side. Or meet her down a dark alley.

Strengths:
Her magic is a big strength; it enables her to, in essence, survive. For example, when she's playing something really hypnotic/sleepyish, and using her magic with it, she's nearly impossible to resist. NOT impossible, mind you, if you have magic or are just good at resisting such things, you could escape it with some difficulty. She uses it to her advantage whenever possible, and this helps her greatly. Her survival skills and instincts help. She can often tell when someone's ready to make a move on her (Attack, not flirt), from watching posture and the like. She's learned that humans are surprisingly like animals in that respect. Also, she's very tolerant of alcohol; it takes a lot to get her drunk. This helps her a lot in some situations; for one thing, she can impress people, but that's not exactly the best thing; she can also appear to have had enough to be taken advantage of, and still have enough sense to kick a guy in the crotch. Which definitely helps in a lot of situations.

Weaknesses:
Her vanity and OCD-ness can sometimes drive people away, as not everyone likes it when they drop something, a moment later it will be put away. Also, she looks at the appearance too much, which can cause her to pass up a guy/friend who could've been good for her, due to the fact that she didn't like their look. The fact that if she gets desperate enough, will break laws and moral standing can also drive people away; a lot of people don't like to be with someone who doesn't mind stealing to feed herself, or killing, for that matter. Also, it can get her in trouble. When all is said and done, most of her weaknesses are in social standing. On the sailboat she was good, but it deprived her of social contact. It was fine with her; she is rather cynical, and it gave her time to think, which everyone needs at one point. However, when she came back into 'civilization,' she was quick to find that though she'd never been a people person, she was now downright anti-social. This is definitely a weakness for her, but opposites attract, maybe she'll find someone sooner or later.

History:
She was born in Alaska, to two wandering hunters. They'd roam about, hunting and fishing for a living, basically just living off the land and junk. Nicole lived with them, under the given name of "Taima," but when she turned seventeen, she decided she'd had enough.
She waited until they were in a port, stole a docked sailboat, and took to the water. She lived from dock to harbor, spending as long in one place as she could, until she felt the need to move on, had exhausted her resources, or been caught doing something illegal. At first, days were hard in the sailboat; nights were torture, as Nicole found it nearly impossible to sleep knowing that she was on a sailboat, with no one around for miles and miles... utterly on her own. She was mainly drifting around, and spent as much time as possible hugging the shoreline so she could engine it into the beach or harbor if there was a storm, or even any waves taller than usual. It took weeks of this to get anywhere, and after the third port, she realized that it would never help her to keep this up; she'd eventually get caught with the boat, or sink. So she sought help, and the very first guy she asked offered to give her lessons, all she needed to know about sailing. Nicole was so grateful, she accepted first, asked questions... well, she never got the chance to ask any questions. The guy took off with all the money she'd given him.
Nicole was horribly upset by this, and it threw her off for some time, but she kept trying. The next guy attempted to do the same thing, but she caught him at it and managed to salvage her savings this time. Finally, she decided to enlist an old friend of her parents', and although it took her a rather long time to reach him, he agreed to help, and she set sail again, this time with an old shiphand aboard. After half a year of this, he had gotten tired of this, and they parted ways, him promising to tell her parents she was doing well, and her promising to write ASAP. As it was then winter, and being sick and tired of snow and cold, Nicole set sail for Australia, and soon found herself running for the shore nearest to Aegle, unknowingly pulled in by the magical force. She ran into a fluke storm, and wound up beached on the shores of Aegle. After spending a few weeks in Lower Adad, the rumors have convinced her that The Organization would be a good thing to try for. So here she is!

What is your character most ashamed of?
Her vanity, and her parents.

What makes your character unique?
Her mild OCD, her cynicism, and her talent for music.

If your character's house was burning down, and your character did have a house what would he/she do?
She'd probably salvage what she could, call the authorities (unless they were currently hunting her), and attempt fighting the flames herself, as best she could without risking her life too badly. (Survival instincts again.)

Other Information:
That's pretty much it, really. Oh, except for that she's currently living in the lowest part of town, out of a *cough* not *cough* stolen BMW station wagon.
Also, she's pretty strong, due to working alone on a sailboat for two years. (It can be done. Maiden Voyage, for instance. I promise, it was very rough in the beginning, which is partly what formed her to not trust so easily or make friends as easily, either.) So while she'd not match up to someone who bench-pressed or some-such, she'd be able to defend herself to some extent.
