Below you will read my comments and thoughts concerning the Dingo population on Fraser Island + related waffle. Also my theory/s on what triggered the fatal attack that occurred at Waddy Point on Fraser Island recently. Be it right or wrong something obviously has to be done to avoid this tragedy happening again.

I have tried my best to word my notes so as to not seem to  spleenful and heartless relating most of what I write toward the Dingo. Many issues must be taken into consideration when a tragedy such as this occurs It not only generates a lot of hatred toward the animal  it also generates alot of questions too. The main question being why did this happen?

Feeding of Dingoes on Fraser Island and other parts of Australia is a learnt behaviour much like feeding kookaburras and Magpies in the backyard of suburbia. The animal is taking full advantage of an easily obtainable food source and what man has to offer.

This learnt behaviour only teaches the Dingo to associate food with humans. We also must look at the way an animal like the Dingo thinks. Was the attack on Fraser Island related to a form of aggression associated to dominance? The more human contact the less the fear.Think about it!

We must understand that we are dealing with a Wild Animal. This is NOT a domestic dog. It would take many generations for a wild Dingo to become what you and I know as a domestic dog.
Even then there is no guarantee on the animals disposition.

From what I can gather Fraser Island holds the most purest form of Dingo in Australia? If this is the case then they must be protected at all costs the Dingo as a species is under threat due to the fact far to many domestic dogs are left to roam by Irresponsible pet owners the Dingo certainly seem to be a more purer form than some of the scabby looking things I have seen
running around in Central Australia as opposed to Fraser These animals to me appear to be the end result of an orgy talk about genetic diversity!

I have ran into Dingoes in quite a few parts of Australia in a variety of habitats I look upon these animals with respect and interest and I can say from my observations their behaviour varies slightly from location to location like all wild animals they are unpredictable in their nature. This thought must be held in the back of ones mind when around any wild animal this also includes the Dingo.

If you are prepared to venture out into the bush then you best be prepared and have some sort of basic knowledge of what you are likely to encounter in that particular area this does not just
include the Fauna alone.

Venturing into the scrub need not be a frightening experience to many sadly this is the case. If you do not feel confident in that type of Environment then stay home and stick up the tent in the backyard.Wildlife should not be looked upon with fear and
hatred.

As Australia evolved it produced some of the most dangerous creatures known to man. To take time out to read up and acquire a
basic knowledge of the more common species of animal that pose a potential threat is not only a good idea the knowledge will also help give you peace of mind and may very well save your life someday.

You will find a lot of animals have the potential to kil From a kangaroo to a Cassowary, a Frog to a Spider, They all possess a means of defence be it claws, venom, teeth, or spines, these animals have evolved and developed certain physical and
biological characteristics that help to ensure the survival of that particular species.

These animals were given a choice during the long and complex process of evolution, that choice was adapt or perish it’s as simple as that. In the wild a mistake is usually payed for by DEATH

What I understand is the Dingoes of Fraser Island have had their behaviour and feeding habits modifyed by the interference of man. The scavenging out of bins and off rubbish tips, hanging around camps harassing people for scraps is an unnatural method of obtaining food not to mention an unhealthy/ unbalanced diet.
