The
Pan Am Wives Clipper Club is a social club consisting of the wives of Flight Deck Crew Members of Pan American World Airways.

The club originated many years ago in the south SFO bay area and continues to meet on a regular bases. Traditional lunch meetings where "the boys" are invited are held at least once each year.

This spring luncheon was held at the Hugos restaurant in Palo Alto, California. Here are a few pictures.

Check back in a couple of weeks. I should have the ladies added to this page by then.

For those of you who may have an interest in formatting your pictures to send with email here is what I do before posting a picture on the Internet or sending it via email.

I use Adobe PhotoShop to process my digital pictures. First I reduce the physical size of the picture to approximately 4x5 inches. Next, I reduce the resolution to 96 Pixels per inch (pix). Then, I save the picture compressed to the maximum in the JPE format.

Just a couple of words about computer screen resolution. A computer monitor displays a picture using dots, or pixels. There are only 96 pixels per inch (pix) on a PC monitor (72 pix on a Mac monitor). Therefore, if you display a 4x5" picture on a PC monitor that has a resolution of 250 pix the image will be almost three times larger than the screen, and is probably around 3.5 MB in file size. If you would send that picture in an email it would take 23 minutes to download on a 28.8 modem. By reducing it to 96 pix and compressing it as a JPG format the file size would be about 25 KB and the picture should only take 10 seconds to download, and would be within the bounds of the viewing area of the monitor.

I don't want to get involved in a long discussion, but here are a couple of numbers for you to keep in mind.

For printing, the picture resolution should be more than 150 pixels. The higher the better..
For sending the picture in an email, the resolution should be no more than 96 pixels/inch.

A  PC monitor set at 800x600 will display a 10x8 inch picture of 96 pixels resolution within the bounds of the screen. In other words it will fill the screen. The Microsoft Wallpaper picture displayed on your PC monitor has a resolution of only 72 pix and is only 60 KB size file.
