England
One must take care to always note that England and Scotland are not the same!  There is a rivalry that extends back centuries - but everyone should know this!!!!!

I've captured so many images of this region.  When you watch a fairytale or a medieval movie, you think that the settings on the screen are man-made.  Being from the "colonies", I never dreamed that these places I had seen in the movies and read about in books actually existed!  It was like walking through a story book - villages of thatched-roof cottages, cobble-stone roads, numerous castles, cathedrals, and their surrounding gardens.  Visiting these places is like walking back in time...

First, I'd like to show you some castles!
Warwick Castle
Look at this beauty!!!

I had just gotten off the plane.  My friend decided to take a small detour on the way to Birmingham.  He told me to get out the car, instructed me to close my eyes, and then he proceeded to lead me along the sidewalk.  When I was finally allowed to look, I discovered that I was on a bridge; the view before me took my breath away...  this picture was taken from that bridge.

Like I said... a fairytale come to life!
King "Off with their heads!!" Henry's Mighty Dover Castle
You all must have heard something about King Henry XIII.

He married quite a few times. In "layman's terms", what happened is that he wasn't having much luck in siring a male, so to go from one female to the next, he found excuses to execute several wives, because the church wouldn't allow him to divorce.  Finally, after so many executions, he got the bright idea to form the Anglican Church, which  allowed divorce; thus stopping the executions.  He finally sired one son, Edward, who was sickly.  Not sure of the details - I just know that his daughter, Queen Elizabeth, ended up ruler; and was one of Britain's greatest monarchs.  She refused to marry (cuz she'd have to surrender her authority to her husband) and named herself "The Virgin Queen".
This woman was awesome!!  She defyed all customs!  She even demanded that all her subjects bath!  (Good Woman!)

It is terrible tragedy that these women lost their lives over breeding - it was probably King Henry's own genes at fault; the irony is in the fact that his daughter ended up ruling anyway!!

Look Elizabeth up sometime!  While your at it, look up her crazy sister, Queen Bloody Mary!  She loved burning heretics at the stake...   Actually, the story of the entire family is quite intriguing!
My darling Wardour Castle
My absolute favourite castle!!

I actually encountered a ghost here...

I know that I've got so many pictures posted, but I'd love to show you the inside of Old Wardour, and I'll describe my other-wordly encounter while I'm at it.

I'm in the early stages of reconstructing this site, so forgive my spelling mistakes!!  I'll be correcting any that I find later! :-)
Homeward!
Peveral Village
As I mentioned above, walking through alot of these villages and townships was like walking back in time...
Did you know?
That inside the cathedrals and ancient buildings of Europe, the *lifting mechanisms* (I have no idea what to call them)  that were used to lift the stones for building the structure, are still inside the very  towers!  After you built the church or tower around it, it was impossible to get the machinery out.
Hey!!
Check this place out!!!
