Made for my Marine Biology class in junior year. I really like the design because it was nice and simple. It mostly contained information about what we learned and suppose to learn in that class since the teacher wanted it to be a reference place for students. I think they're remodeling the website this year (grr! Don't touch my Htmls!) so it might look different now =T

I really like this website. It all started out when my friend and I went to Oregon Literacy, Inc. (OLI) for volunteering (but they convinced us to work as interns too ^_^) and one of their pet projects, Walk-for-Literacy, was suffering from volunteer turnover (not just with volunteers but the leader of the project had to quit due to family illness) so Meg gave the project to us.
Let me tell you, I have a whole new respect now for people who plan special events because it's hard. No, not hard as in can't-solve-a-math-problem, oh no, it's hard as in there's so many things to think about, so many obstacles, and so many deadlines! My friend and I actually had an adult to work with us but he's new too and more times than not, he's working or traveling (I think he only came in about 5 times over a two month period). It was so weird because he would ask us what he needs to do even though he was at least 35 years old and we were still in high school!
But still, even with all the stress, I loved the experience. I was there every week, calling, planning, emailing, etc. I still talk to the people and they're are so nice! Especially Meg, every time I see her or talk to her, she's always so encouraging! Definitely going to go back again next summer.
Haha, but I'm digressing huh? Well, this website was made so people can go online to get more information, to ask questions, to sign up, or even become a virtual walker! I worked so hard on this, I made every picture in there except for the man with the book (OLI's trademark) and the design was all mine, MINE I tell you!
Yeah, I'm a little over excited on this one =D

About Malheur County

This was a side project when I was working at OLI. Malheur County's literacy program wanted a website so Meg gave me the job. They didn't want anything fancy or colorful like Walk-for-Literacy so I made them a very plain but simple design. I never actually met the people there either, we just talked on the phone, which is so weird because I much rather talk to people face to face than to talk over the phone.

Chalk-It-Up-For-Literacy event was a sister event to Walk-for-Literacy. CIUFL was sponsored by the Portland Council, Inc and OLI decided to have the two as joint events, so after the walkers finish with the walk, they can use chalk to draw for CIUFL.

Explanation:

ACU is a project started by my friend and I. The idea is to use art in the community to increase the bond between art / artist and the citizens in the society. Our projects includes painting building for holidays, use students' artworks for display in business building, and use the money we raise to give back to schools (especially in our state, many of the art departments in schools are being cut and lack funds).
So here, you can find some of the members' artworks which they lend to ACU. Also information about becoming a volunteer or a sponsor as well as some other things. As a web designer, I wish I spend more time on this website but as a leader in ACU, I know it's more important to do the work than to say it =P
