"This is something I have always wanted to do"

Nelson says he will use a lot of the key ingredients that
made the men's team so successful and supplement it into the women's program.
"I have always been big on defense, and I'm looking to focus on defense
with the ladies," Nelson says. "You're always going to be able
to score; it's a matter of locking up the other team that usually decides
the game."
During his years as the men's assistant, Nelson was the muscle behind
the team's success. “With the men’s team i supervised their
work in the weightroom and structured a workout program that would get
the players physically prepared for college style basketball,” Said
Nelson. “I plan on doing the same thing with the ladies’ team
only their program will obviously be geared towards them.”
This year’s team returns losing four seniors in Erin Mcgunnigal,
Dalena Sass, Julie Robinson, and Corrie Bebar. All four ladies were very
key to the the success of last year’s team. Mcgunnigal, Robinson,
and Sass were seletected to the All-NIIC conference team, leading the
lady eagles in scoring.
