I.  Revolving Fund Loans:
Veteran students at Pembroke are authorized a revolving fund loan from the VA for up to $800 in increments of $100.  This is an interest-free loan to be paid back within a period of 10 months.  For example: if you borrow $800, your monthly payment to the VA will be $80 per month for 10 months. If you borrow $200, your monthly payment to the VA will be $20 per month for 10 months.

NOTE: In order to get the loan, the individual must be recieving a monthly compensation check equal to what the monthly payback will be for the loan.
II.  Filling Full Course Hours:
If you discover there are not enough courses being offered to fulfill your obligation to your major or to fulfill a minimum of 12 credited hours, you may with prior approval, take courses that will look good on your resume.  For example: computer and self-defense courses (the self-defense course is an excellent course for all social workers and women).  Mr. Byron Combs (336) 631-5200 ext. 2801 requires prior approval for any course outside your major.
III.  Xerox Cards:
Are you in classes that require a ton of copies, such as research, reflection papers, etc.?  Students can be authorized to purchase the $20 Xerox Cards if they provide either an informal note from their instructor or the class syllabus to Mr. Byron Combs (336) 631-5200 ext. 2801 prior to purchase.

NOTE:  If you do not believe that your classes require $20 worth of copies, you may keep a log of all copies made as a receipt.  Submit your receipt at the end of the semester to Mr. Byon Combs for reimbursement.
IV.  NASW Dues:
Social Work students in their Junior or Senior year may have their NASW dues refunded through the VA.  This service is provided because of the insurance available through the NASW organization.  Seniors that are required to have insurance prior to or at the start of their internship can have those charges reimbursed as well.  As always, approval must be granted through Mr. Byron Combs (336) 631-5200 ext. 2801 first.
V.  Voices of Vets Dues:
The one time charge of $5 for
Voices of Vets dues will not be reimbursed through the VA.
VI.  Pembroke Students:
There are approximately 61 students at Pembroke associated with the VA/VR program.  This number does include all recent graduates still looking for job placements.  Most of the students within the VA/VR program can be found in Social Work, Teacher/Education, Psychology/Counseling, and Accounting.  Help us spread the word about
Voices of Vets.
