August 11th, 1747- several Dutch families move upstate to Albany, New York. Among these few are the future parents of Peter Gansevoort.
June 24th, 1749- Peter Gansevoort is born in Albany, New York into wealth and the elite society of Albany's most distinguished families.
May 1775- Peter Gansevoort becomes a very important general in the Revolutionary War.
September 1782- Gansevoort retires to the countryside to escape the tedium of a soldier's life. Gansevoort is founded near Saratoga, New York ("Gansevoort" = "goose crossing" in Dutch.)
