Coming to Broadway in February 2005: Monty Python's Spamalot, "the musical lovingly ripped off from the musical picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (according to the press release). It's got a book by Python member Eric Idle, who collaborates with John Du Prez (A Fish Called Wanda, The Meaning of Life) on the score (which includes three songs from the film). The press release goes on to say, "Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot features a chorus line of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and one legless knight who create unforgettable musical production numbers that Eric Idle promises will be as good or quite likely better than any other show with killer rabbits and a legless knight opening on Broadway or in Chicago this season." The show has certainly attracted an A-list cast: Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Show) stars as King Arthur; David Hyde-Pierce (Frasier) is Sir Robin; Hank Azaria (The Simpsons) is sir Lancelot; and Douglas Sills (The Scarlet Pimpernel) is Sir Galahad. And Mike Nichols is the director. Monty Python's Spamalot will play a tryout engagement in Chicago, December 21 - January 16. http://www.montypythonsspamalot.com/ DID YOU HAVE YOUR SPAM TODAY?
