The leaf was green
The leaf was green, not envious of others
enjoying a shower occasionally
Or the settling of dew in the early morn
Or spoken to by the twittering birds.
Glistening in sun like an emerald
freshly hewn from depths of earth Expressing its ecstasy by a gentle shiver
Or was it kissed by a gentle breeze.
Then a day came unannounced, when its regal stature was lost
The blue was taken out of the green leaving the leaf yellow and sallow.
No more joy in showers or dews no more joy in twittering of birds
No more joy in shining like the sun no more joy in any other thing.
Human life is like a green leaf enjoying all the blessings naively
But when the Royal blue goes away this life becomes lusterless.
The Royal in our life is who else but my Lord, Christ the King
Without Him, our life is lifeless blessed are those who are aware of this.
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, ..He will be like a tree ……… its leaves are always green." (Jeremiah 17:7-8) |

The mind is like an ant
Have you wondered at an ant’s efforts?
While watching in your spare moment
Aimless and endless in its pursuit
On getting a grain, seven times its size.
Does not mind rolling it to its crevice
Mostly alone, absorbed in own world
An ant is not an icon of hard work
But a symbol of infinite meander.
Mind roams around, like an ant
When burdened more than it can bear
Works on its own in its crevice
Assuming it is its own, like the ant.
Mind is of one, made in is His own image
So relieve the burden and seek His help
Remember Him and his eternal words
“He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”
( Deuteronomy 31:6) |

Guiding Stars
The dark night sky seems to be a speckled band
Studded with shimmering stars in its endless spread
Girdling the earth, like a dainty adorable ornament.
There was a star in yore, patiently waiting in the sky
To show, the heavily laden traveling magis, the path
To reach the child born in the manger, like the angel said.
Even today, stars so many of them in the horizon,
Made up of those who have done Thy will through the ages
Waiting to show the way to the Lord, my God. |
