The Ice Age begun about 75,000 years ago. Almost the whole earth was frozen. However, there were various land bridges. Beringia was the name of the land bridge that connected North Asia to Alaska. When they crossed there was the legendary wooly mammoth. It went across the Bering Straight. The Bering Straight froze up causing a bridge of ice. When food was scarce early man followed the migration herd.  It led them across Beringia.  Consequently they crossed Beringia and continued on their journey.  They had no specific plan.     The land bridge started at the beginning of the Ice Age.  It began at 75,000 years ago and ended at 14,000 years ago.  The ice cap melted because the warmer temperatures came.  Finally the bridge disappeared from view.  Also, there was still a huge amount of mammoths during the Ice Age.  There are several migration theories about how man may have traveled to Americas.  Scientists also found out that the sea level dropped, It dropped due to the water forming large glaciers.  The homo sapiens who came across from Russia were called the first Americans, or Native American.  Furthermore, there is an extremely small amount of evidence of the migrants technology.
