GLACIERS
HOME
Glaciers are made up of fallen snow that, over maney years ,compress into large, thickened ice masses. Glaciers form when snow remains in one location long enough to change into ice, they also have steep cliffes.Presentely, glaciers take up about ten percent of the worlds total land area.,with most located in Polar Regions like Antartica and greenland. Glaciers can be thought as remnants from the last Ice age.when ice covered nearly thertytwo percent of the land.and therty percent of the oceans.
glaciers are also interesting because abought 14,000 years ago canada was ice free. Also the first humans are believed to have arived in Rodeisland abought tenthousand - twelve thousand years ago. These people undought fully spent most of there time near rivers and streams . Abought 15,000 years ago the latest growing ice of Quinteray Age began on earth. Some more interesting facts ar that glaacieral ice often appears when it has become very dence. In Washington state, glaciers provide 470 billion galons of water each summer.
Glaciologist  study about Glaciers because they wan't to see how far the glaciers move. Also they spend long days and nights on these frozen fields "reading"the in search of clues to the history of the worlds past climate. The melting of a glacier can become a source of water for cities and farms that need irragation.Over three-fourths of the worlds fresh water is frozen water is frozen into glacier ice.If all the glaciers of the world melted, the sea level would rise.
Many Glaciologist study  about glaciers because they want to see how far the glacier has moved. Many cities by the ocean now be covered with ocean water and destroyed. People should study glaciers because it helpes us plan for the future. We also understand more about the earths past history. Here are some more interesting facts about glaciers!!!!!

*20 thousand years ago was the latest growing glaciers.
*Glaciers move downward because off the pull of gravity.
*When glaciers ''bump''into islands or anything like thatthey re-shape the object slightly.
Glaciers move very slowly.
