First we need to look into what a Dragon is. To most people a Dragon is a creature of mostly reptilian nature, with some slight variation in each. These reptilian creatures were said to hold most of the knowledge of our world, and a supreme knowledge of all things majikal and mystical.
Dating as far back as c. 2500 bc. we find the ancient Druids refering to the Dragons or Dragon lines of the earth. These were the ridges and mountains of the earth. This belief came about when the last of the Dragons on earth fell. It is said that when it hit it had an earth changing impact or force. Now all the dragons have returned to the earth and will rest there forever. In Mid-evil times or the Arthurian times the Dragons took on the appearance of the reptilian, winged or un-winged creatures of myth and lore that we know today.
In the post-Arthurian, neo-pagan world we live in today we know of the Dragons as spirit or celestial guardians that manifest in a variety of ways. The most common of these is the fire Dragons that are present in all Bale fires and in most fires in general. It is not unusual to hear of a Dragon Majik practitioner talk of their personal Dragon Guardian. But no matter where you go or who you talk to Dragons are revered as mighty and genius in intelligence. |
