Activities

The MOMS ClubŪ of the Wachusett Region provides many activities for our members to participate in.  Our calendar fluctuates every month to provide flexibility to everyone's schedule.  All of our meetings and all but one of our activities are during the day, when at-home mothers need the support.  We believe being a mother should not isolate you, so children are welcome at all functions.  Suggestions for new programs and activities are always welcome by our members.

Below is a list and brief description of activities and services that the Wachusett Region MOMS Club provides:

- Member's Meetings:  These meetings are held the 1st Friday of each month.  This is where we discuss new ideas and upcoming activities, take feedback, plan events, and disseminate information.  Occasionally we will have a speaker come for a short portion.  A typical meeting, without speaker, lasts no longer than 15 minutes.  A member staffed craft/activity table is provided to entertain the children at the other end of the meeting room, so the Moms have an opportunity to participate in the meeting.  These meetings are not mandatory but members are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions and ideas.

-
Newsletter: We provide a monthly newsletter for our members which includes a calendar for the following month, club news and information, articles, members classified ads, recipes and announcements.

-
Playgroups:  We have playgroups for all ages - infant through school-age.  Playgroups are constantly being formed as the interest arises.  Each group decides how often they will meet each month.

-
Outings:  We typically plan three - four childrens' activities a month.  Some of our past activities have been:  a tour of a local Fire Station, walks on the Rail Trail, strawberry picking, a tour of Home Depot, a Papa Gino's pizza party, bagels at a local playground, the Roger Williams Park Zoo, apple picking, a picnic at Rutland State Park, and holiday parties.

-
Park Days: During the warm weather months, we get together weekly at a local park to give our kids a chance to get outside and play for awhile.

-
MOMS Night Out:  Every mom needs to get out by herself!  Once a month we plan an evening activity to give our moms a chance to socialize.  Although children rarely accompany mothers on the MOMS Night Out, it is not uncommon for one or two moms to have an infant along.  We've had lots of fun going to movies, making holiday gifts, sampling local restaurant's desserts, painting pottery at ClayTime, swapping cookies, and eating out.

-
Service Projects:  Each chapter of the MOMS Club performs service projects that help the community.  Emphasis is placed on those projects that benefit needy children.  Projects over the past years included: raising money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, purchasing playground equipment for a local park, collecting toys for a local womens shelter at Christmas, donating to the MOMS to MOMS fund, donating to the fire fighters Fund, collecting clothes for the Dress for Success program, and donating goods to Abby's House and Friendly House in Worcester.
