Here at Wakefield Villa we try to include serious and fun training to gain a healthy balance to both encourage and maintain our player's minds and abilities.
We have through hard work and good funding been able to introduce from the formation of the Club different aspects of training and equipment.
For our player's, agility was one area where we have been able to benefit from the addition of agility training equipment such as Speed Ladders and Hurdles
Hurdles.
During the last few months and with the aid of a grant from Community Futures, we have been able to purchase Rebounder's both for Keeper and Striker training. These items will be especially used during the summer months when training for 2003  2004 will be out doors.
Static.                        Hand Held.
We will be also purchasing target goals and further agility equipment (poles and stands ) in the coming months to help in the summer preparations. This is essential as we will have to train hard for the BT Liverpool-Knowsley International Football Tournament.
As a small club dedicated to the improvement of players no matter what their ability, we have adopted the training programme of 2touchsoccer.co.uk who produced very good training cards. They have proved popular both in and planning training sessions.
An area where we planned a project was the
FA Coca Cola Soccer Stars Awards
with funding from Skelmersdale Partnership
The information gleamed from this course has both helped us in finding the correct team training and given an edge to players wanting to improve on test results.
Apart from the training programme and equipment that has been advised here, we also try to promote through funding, educational courses for our players. To date we have been able to provide a course for Junior Coaching Awarness and Referee's Course.
Skelmersdale college have been exceptional in providing good facilities for our courses and a great partner in local sport.
Within our club constitution, we have allowed for training courses to be outside of football to allow our members the opportunity to learn other sports. This will be available dependent on funding and members requests.
We currently train indoors at Glenburn School, Skelmersdale with two hours on the track and all weather pitch on Monday Evenings ( 7- 9 ) and  one hours light warm up training in the gym and one hours 5-a-Side football in the Sports Hall on Tuesday evenings ( 7 - 9 ).

Facilities operated by Glenburn Community Association.
Our normal training also allows for non team members and we regularly have extra attendees at our sessions non aligned within the club. Recently to allow for extra members, we have introduced two-tier membership. One for league players also one for non-league players. We think this allows for a larger club and to give everyone involved the protective surrounding of membership.
