I haven't updated here for a while.  As I said before, I'm currently working on a 6-issue mini series for DC called THE CREEPER/  And here's something about it even if it doen't sport my name as the inker....
Creeper (six issues, August)
w/a: Steve Niles/Justiniano.   Didio: “It’s Jack Ryder, but it’s Ryder through the eyes of Steve Niles and Justiniano. You’ve got something that really plants a new corner. Not only does it put a little air of mystery and horror into the Creeper, which I think he needs to have, but it also plays upon some of the pop culture aspects of the DC Universe, as Jack Ryder is a television personality. How does the world of heroes affect the media? That’s one of the thing that we’re going to be looking in that series.”

At the same time, I'm also working on a 6-issue mini series called THE NEXT.  Here's the solciation for that series...
THE NEXT #1
Written by Tad Williams, Art and cover by Dietrich Smith & Walden Wong
Acclaimed fantasy novelist Tad Williams (Tailchaser's Song, Shadowmarch) takes the DCU to the next level in a miniseries featuring art by Dietrich Smith (AQUAMAN, OUTSIDERS) & Walden Wong (DAY OF VENGEANCE)! Meet "The Next," a group of super-powered individuals who bring chaos - and a new super-villain - with them when they cross over from another dimension!     On sale July 12 • 1 of 6 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US Edited by Joey Cavalieri
There you have it!  Also, a couple of months back, there were some JLU digest sized books that were released.  Digest meaning books that about the same size like those Japanese Manga comics you see these days at book stores.  JLU Digest Issue #2 which collected JLU # 6-10 of the regular series and JLU Digest issue #3 which collected JLU # 11-15 of the regular series.  Cool stuff!

DC COMICS GOES BACK TO PRESS ON SOLD OUT DAY OF VENGEANCE #2
The excitement over the Spectre' s return continues to build as DAY OF VENGEANCE #2 has sold out at DC Comics two days after arriving in stores on May 25.   Now, DC rushes this issue back to press for a new printing featuring the original cover art by Walter Simonson with a new color scheme.
" It seems we had too much vengeance to fit into one printing," says writer Bill Willingham.   " Seriously, I'd like to thank DC for their determination to keep printing until every reader who wants a copy of any issue of DAY OF VENGEANCE can get one."
" We're happy to go back to press on this issue to help retailers meet reader demand,"  says Bob Wayne, DC's VP Sales.  " Retailers should get their orders in as quickly as possible to make sure they don' t miss out."

In other news.... From Marvel, there's a "Ultimate Advantures" Trade Paperback that's being released this week.  I only did issue #4 of that 6 issue miniseries about 4 years ago. .  That mini-series is collect into this Trade Paperback and it's now being released.
June 02,  2005

Completed work on JLU #12.  And here's a little bit of news about Day of Vengence #1...

SOLD-OUT DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 RETURNS IN NEW THIRD PRINTING
The spirit of vengeance continues to rein over the DCU as the DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 Second Printing has sold out at DC Comics on its in-store date of May 25.  DC is rushing this issue back to press for a new printing featuring a special of the original cover by Walter Simonson in black and white with  green highlights.  DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 Third Printing  reprints the story by Bill Willingham with art by Justiniano & Walden Wong.  This new printing is scheduled to arrive in stores on June 22.
"I'd like to personally thank each reader who made going back to a third printing with DAY OF VENGEANCE a necessity,  says Willingham.  But since I can't do that, I hope you'll forgive my thanking you collectively here.  DAY OF VENGEANCE is a work of love good premise, wonderful artists, terrific cast of characters, and lots of room for fun and adventure.  And there are many surprises to come, so I hope you'll stay with us for the entire 6-issue ride.  Who knew one little ghost could get so cranky?"

And in other stuff I've done, here's some articles I wrote about toys.

Animerica April  '05 issue - Jet's Guid Suit review - page 82
               Animerica May  '05 issue - Teen Titans T-Booster review - page 82
Animerica June '05 issue - This Is A Collection To Die For - page 79

This last article was a lot of fun to write, because I wrote about me!  Not only did I write about toys, I wrote about what I like to collect, wrote about me being a comic book artist working on JLU, and also included lots of pictures of my toy collection.

Here's a little press release from DC Comics...
THE SPECTRE RETURNS IN NEW PRINTING OF SOLD-OUT DAY OF VENGEANCE #1!
April 26th, 2005 -
The Spectre returns to the DCU in DAY OF VENGEANCE #1, which sold out at DC Comics over a week before arriving in stores on April 27.
Now, DC sends this issue back to press for a new printing featuring a powerful new color cover by Walter Simonson!
DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 Second Printing reprints the story by Bill Willingham with art by Justiniano & Walden Wong. This new printing is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 25.
"This is wonderful news, but also a bit worrisome," says Willingham. "I've just started writing the sixth and final issue of DAY OF VENGEANCE, and now the pressure's doubly on to make this end with a bang. I don't like to brag, but DAY OF VENGEANCE is a series that should come with safety belts — it's going to be a wild ride. The entire magic corner of the DC Universe is going to be turned over, crunched, munched and whacked upside the head a few times."

And... I've also been told that it's #1 in the country right now!  Cool beans!

JLU #6 is out in newstands now.  And for those who ordered the FLASH #1/2 through WIZARD, it's out and it looks really good!  Very pleased with how it turned out.  I got to ink the cover to JLU #8, which is my first cover for that series.  And in this months Previews (February 2005), there a listing for another mini-series I'm working on...

Ragman finds himself at the magical core of the DCU, where he finds himself aligned with an unlikely ally: The Enchantress! Together, they must face down a foe who has sworn to wipe out all magic...The Spectre!
32 pages, $2.50, in stores on April 20            Edited by Joey Cavalieri

Based on what I've already worked on, this is gonna be a high profile book!  So tell your comic book stores to reserve a copy for you..
January 23, 2005

Added to the INK-WORKS section.  A while back when I worked on JLA/Witchblade, there was a "ghost penciller".  A "ghost penciller" is someone who helps out on pencilling pages without getting credit for their work when the book is published.   I believe there were 2 or 3 pages this "ghost penciller" did.  So if you didn't know then, you'll know now... uploaded a JLA/ Witchblade double page spread that I inked over Dave Finch's ghost pencils a while back.  And it's an image of Wonder Woman with Superman, no less!  Enjoy.
January 03, 2005

JLU #5 is out in newstands now.  Finished working on JLU #8.   Added to the INK-WORKS section.  Uploaded a War Secret files double page spread that I inked over Yvel Guichet's pencils a while back for DC Comics.    For those who are interested in some of my other stuff besides Inking, I've done some (toy, action figures, and product) reviews for ANIMERICA Magazine. You can get these magazines where magazines are sold.  So here's the breakdown of what I've wrote about so far....

Animerica October '04 issue - Inuyasha Convention Exclusive figure review - page 82.
Animerica November '04 issue - Dead Leaves Kubricks Review & Anime Linkin Park review - page 79
Animerica December '04 issue - Plug Girls (or) Neon Genesis Evangelion Wonder Showcase review - page 90
Animerica January '05 issue - Street Fighters series 1 action figure review - page 79

And if you're wondering how I got this gig... I did some art for the magazine and read one of their issues.  I noticed that they review a lot of products, but not much toys or action figures, which I had an interest in.  So when I asked them about it, they asked me if I would be interested and here we are now.  No difference than me writing about toys or action figures in my own website's forum, except I just write about Anime related items they give me or stuff I think they would be interested in publishing.
December 27,  2004

Inked the cover for JLU #8 last week.  Helped out on six pages of FLASH #219 which features art by Justiniano, the same penciller who I've inked over The Human Race.   Human Race took almost three years in the making because of the intense details.  And that's just the inking aspect of it!  Speaking of which...in this months issue of Previews (January 2005), The Human Race is solicited!  Here's the description...
THE HUMAN RACE #1
Written by Ben Raab.     Art  by Justiniano & Walden Wong.     Cover by Justiniano.
A new 7-issue miniseries written by Ben Raab (GREEN LANTERN, GREEN ARROW) with mind-blowing art by Justiniano (BEAST BOY, Chastity) & Walden Wong (JLA)! The super-powered fraternity of Delta Chi Delta is charged with a mission: to protect the genetic code of the human race from any outside interference. But when a young man's entire hometown is invaded by an alien force, the threat of a global mutation compels him to join the group - especially when he manifests strange powers of his own!
On sale March 16 - 1 of 7 - 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US            Edited by Joey Cavalieri

Ask your comic stores to order copies.  This is one of the MOST intense projects I've ever worked on.  I've used ever inking technique that I know with this series.  And from an Inking standpoint, you wouldn't believe how much textures are in there.   You won't be dissapointed.
December 04,  2004

In Wizard # 159 (in stores now), there's a coupon offer for a Flash # 1/2 I mentioned a while back.  I inked half that issue over Justiniano's pencils.  The same penciller I've worked with on the 7 issue mini-series called the Human Race that will be out in 2005.

Back from Comic Con and here's the scoop.  My scoop!   Was there for all four days.  Turnout was huge.  More people that years past.  Got to meet up with old friends as well as new ones.  Joked with Joe Quesada (Marvel Editor in Chief) for a bit and told him I haven't worked with Marvel in years and that they didn't love me anymore.  Also talked to C.B. Cebulski (Marvel Editor) to see how he was doing and he congratulated me on my works with other comic companies.   Also caught up with friends like pencillers... Kaare Andrews, Andy Parks, Dietrich Smith, Marat Mychaels, Mike Millar, Gregg Schiegle, and Patrick Blane.  Inkers.... Andy Owens,  Norm Rapmund, and Danny Miki.  Artist and Editor Courtney Huddelson of Penny Farthing Press.  And self publishing artist and writers....Mark Bourne and Derek Kirk Kim (who shouldn't count because we both teach at the same University... but I figure I put his name in since I saw him at the con).  Most if these chats were brief because everybody seems to be busy at the con running around with something to do,  including myself.  Meet new people like Tad Williams (who's writing one of the DC projects I'm working on) and Derek McCaw (Editor-In-Chief of fanboyplanet.com).  I've also meet a lot more people, So if I forget anyone, forgive me.  Creative Light Entertainment threw a dinner party for people who were involved with the movie, "Comic Book the Movie."  Mark Teague ( Art Director/Artist of Creative Light Entertainment and also the star actor on the movie "Superguy." [ which I also did some art for ] ) invited me to that party.  Most of them were movie and television people.  Among them were Mark Hammell (actor on Star Wars who I've also been introduced to earlier that day by Mark Teague in a private meeting room), Chase Masterson (actor on Star Trek Deep Space Nine), Phil Lamar (actor on Mad TV), and a handful of other actors and voice actors whom I had no idea who they were.  I've been told that Stan Lee was suppose to be there, but he cancelled last minute.  Anyway, I was introduced to Mark Hammill and Chase Masterson.  And the both of them were familiar with my work for the movies and complemented me on them.  The both of them were also kind enough to pose for pictures with me.  Mark Hammill even gave me an autograph on a Luke Skywalker statue that I coincidentally bought the same day that I had with me.  But it doesn't end there...  I was able to get Pete Woods (Penciller previous on Robin and currently on Detective) and his wife Rebecca to step away from their busy schedules to grab lunch.  Pete told me that Matt Idelson (DC Comics Editor) was looking for me.  Again, we didn't see each other.  We always seems to miss each other year after year.  One of these days... when I find Matt at another convention, were going to sit down and chat!    Pete also told me a bit of news on his side, but you guys will have to wait until DC announces it.  But it'll be something really cool!   I also hung around at the DC booth to see if I can find any more friends to catch up with.  I Saw Joey Cavalieri (DC Comics Editor) for a split second and when I went to look for him, he was gone.  But at least I got to talk to him for a little bit a day earlier when he was going somewhere with Howard Chaykin.  He wanted me to meet him at the DC booth later on.  But with a convention that size, it's always hard to coordinate meetings.  Also was able to talk to Eddie Berganza (DC Comics Editor) for a while  about our current project together, Justice League Unlimited (Or JLU for short).  When I was at the DC Booth, I also had the pleasure to meet Thomas Jane (actor on Punisher).  He seems to be a nice guy.  I asked for a picture and then I told him he did a great job on the Movie "Punisher."  I also hung around the Viz and Animerica booth as well because I had so many friends working there.  The Convention was fun.  Had a great time!

I'll be attending Comic Con International in San Diego on July 22-25
July 10, 2004

As i'm finishing up the last issue of The Human Race, it'll free up time for me to work on other new projects.  One of the projects that I just completed is the premiere issue of "Justice League Unlimited" for DC Comic's Kids line.  Based on the animated cartoon of the same name.  In the beginning of my career, one of the first projects I've done is JLA (Justice League of America).  Now i'm working on Justice League Unlimited.  It great to work on a book again  with so many iconic characters.  As soon as this comes out, I'll let you know.
July 05, 2004

Superguy: Behind theCape is another movie that I did some work for in the past.  I've been told that the DVD has been released a few weeks ago.  Some of the work I've done includes mock comic book covers, animated sequences, and comic book pages that were used in the movie.  It's a fun movie to watch.  Check it out if you can.  I recommend it.  For those of you who are into Manga and Anime,  I've done some spot illustration work for a magazine called Animerica.  I did a few "Ninja Icons"  for them which will be used constantly  in their magazines.  I've also done some design work for another magazine called Shonen Jump.  Check out both magazines!

Turned in the last few pages for The Human Race #6 to DC Comics today.  Now currently working on the final issue of the mini series.  This issue has more details than any of the previous.  Were going to end this series with a bang!

Creative Light Entertainment finally sent me a DVD to Comic Book the Movie.  This is the movie that I did some art and inks for.  It turned out better than I expected.  For the most part, they used the majority of my work.  They even had my art on the DVDs itself.  They also created a art section for the DVD, in the special features section, where you can see my work.  Tured out better than I expected.  Check it out when you can.  It's an entertaining movie if you're a fan of comic books and especially if you're someone who's been to comic book conventions.

Finish more than the first half of Human Race #6.  Just six more pages to go before #6 is complete.  Once that's done, I'll be working on the final issue #7.  From what I've heard, this book will be coming out somewhere between October 2004 thru March 2005.  Still not definate on these dates yet, But I'll let you know when I hear something more concrete.  For the past year or so, I've been working with Joey Cavalieri (Editor at DC Comics).  He's offered me two projects that kept me very busy.,,, "The Human Race" and "The 7th Helper". The Human Race is one of the most detailed work I've ever done.  At the same time, Joey offered me to work on The 7th Helper.  But at this moment, The 7th Helper is place on hold until further notice.  So instead of taking on more books with more Editors and publishers (and with the possibility of sacraficing quailty over quanitity), I decided on my own to work with Joey exclusively.  Joey's a great Editor and friend.  And he's kept me busy with all these projects.  That's why you haven't seen anything published with my name on it for the past year or so.  It's because I'm working on these two projects.  From the looks of it, The Human Race will be completed first and once this see print, you'll understand why I was so dedicated to this project.  It'll be worth the wait.

I'll be attending Wonder Con in San Francisco.  I don't have a booth nor will I be in Artist alley.  I'll be walking around buying stuff.  so if you see me, feel free to stop me and say Hi!  I'm still currently inking Human Race.  From what I've heard, it'll be a 7 issue mini series now.  I'm working on issue 6 now.  A magazine contacted me to so some spot illustrations for them.  Everything is still in the works.  When I get the green light, I'll let you guys know which magazine it is.

I should mention that I don't sell any of my original art.  Only way anybody can buy art inked by me is through the pencillers.  Occassionaly, I would give some out as gifts.  Just thought I mention this because people are contacting me asking about original art.
