About Chuck Norris
Chuck Norris was born Carlos Ray Norris on May 10, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma.
He is most recently known for his role on the series Walker, Texas Ranger where he was the star, as well as the executive producer.
The oldest of 3 children, he helped his mother raise his two brothers when the family moved to Torrance, CA when he was 12.
After graduating from High School, Norris joined the Air Force. While in Korea, he studied the Asian martial art of Tang Soo Do.
When Chuck returned to the U.S. he worked at Northrop Aviation and taught karate classes on the side. Two years later he was teaching full-time and operating sever karate schools. By age 34, he had established 32 karate schools.
IN 1967, Norris became the Professional World Middleweight Karate Champion, a title he held undefeated until he retired in 1974. Norris holds the honor of black belt in Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwan Do, and in 1996, became the first Westerner to be awarded an eighth-degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do.
Chuck Norris is also heavily involved in charity organizations. Including the Funds for Kids, Veterans Administration National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans, the United Way Make-a-Wish Foundation, and Kick Drugs Out of America, a non-profit organization he created to help battle drugs and violence in schools
When not filming, Chuck enjoys spending time at his ranch.
