SHANNON:  The Irish goddess of the river Shannon.  The myth of Sinend and the Well of Knowledge accounts for the name of the Shannon river.

SHEILA-NA-GIG:  A British goddess of fertility.  She prominently displays her genitals in an attempt to allay the power of death. With the advent of Christianity she is portrayed (even on the outside of English churches) as a female demon to ward off evil.

SHONEY:  A sea deity recognized in Britain.

SOVEREIGNTY: The three sisters Banba, Fodla, and Eriu make up the Irish goddess of Sovereignty. They greeted the Milesians, specifically Amaigen, when they landed in Ieland. All three asked that the island be named after them in exchange for the island forever belonging to the Milesians. Amairgen promised Banba and Fodla that their names would be a name for the island, but to Eriu, he promised that her name would last forever. They married the three sons of Ogma. Erui married Mac Greine, Banba married Mac Cuill, and Fodla married Mac Cecht.

SULIS: Ancient Celtic Sun goddess, worshipped especially on hilltops overlooking springs. The springs as Bath were originally known as Aquae Sulis (Water of the Sun).
