2) She was impregnated by the god Lugh with his own soul, and vomited him into life as Cuchulainn, thereby remaining a virgin.

DEIRDE: Deirdre, renowned for her beauty, was brought up (as a harpist) by Conchobar, King of Ulster, who planned to marry her. However, she fell in love with his nephew Noíse and they fled to Scotland, accompanied by his two brothers. Emissaries of the king induced them to return to Ireland, and when they did, Conchobar had the three brothers treacherously killed. Deirdre died of grief.

DIARMAID: A warrior with Finn mac Cumhail. He eloped with Finn’s betrothed, Grainne. He was the foster-son of Oenghus. Although Oenghus could not save him from his fate of being slain by a magic boar, Oenghus brought Diarmaid back to his palace at New Grange on the river Boyne. There he breathed a new soul into Diarmaid’s body so that he could speak to his foster-son.

DITHORBA: He and his brothers Aod Ruad and Cimbaoth ruled Ireland together in 7 year intervals. When Aoa Ruad died, Dithorba was killed by his niece Mahca Mong Ruad in her bid to become Queen of Ireland.
