Sparkling Sandrita
Wander Baby
When Sandra Franco decided to start mountaineering early, she staged a coup and immediately had her mom instated as our president... that way she'd have a guarranteed say in the trip planning.  ;)

Although just beginning to walk, Sandra already has extensive experience in the desert wilderness and has logged many miles at South Mountain, the Superstitions, and Squaw Peak.  She's also been to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, climbed at Queen Creek, and visited Kartchner Caverns.  Her favorite hiking buddy is Jesse the Dawg cuz sometimes he lets her ride on his back... and their gear matches so nice.

Sandra plans to start climbing seriously as soon as Boreal comes out with shoes that are small enough to fit her.

While not bagging a peak or answering her copious amounts of fan mail, Sandra spends as much time as she can just being cute... and working on her sixth of eighteen novels.
"Ready to ride"
From Sandra's Mom - to all of you who want your children to appreciate the simple things in life:

When I saw Sandra's 10 month old eyes sparkle in that special way the first time I took her for a hike, I truly understood the joy in my parents' hearts when they saw my eyes sparkle the same way when I was a child.

I thank them now for teaching me about life, perseverence, achievement, patience, teamwork, and many other things using such a great teacher as Mother Nature.
While traveling, we stopped to see a bird drink water, we stopped to smell the earth after a rain, we stopped to listen to the jungle's voice, or we stopped simply because we needed to rest... and while sharing the water canteen, we opened our hearts... and through many incredible stories we learned from each other.

Some time ago, I stopped to listen to the wind blowing through the Saguaros.  I had a big smile on my face as my heart reminded me of those days when my parents made me stop... and just listen.
