PINNACLE Peak Park

We were truly surprised that, even in the height of summer, the temperature at Pinnacle Peak was very bearable in the afternoon... and remarkably pleasant in the shady areas. Even on calm days, the heat rising up from the valley floor creates wild wind gusts that swirl around the mountain (especially around Y-Crack) so we often feel like we're in a sand storm in the Sahara... on a cool day.

Since we're there almost every weekend, often with different people, there are so many highlights that we couldn't possibly include them all here... and we want our neato pictures to do most of the talking on this subject anyway.

Just a few notes then: The route 'Turtle Piss' was both Carolina and Anne's first 'sport lead' experience - and they're still patting themselves (and each other) on the back about it. Y-Crack Boulder was Elizabeth's first time ever rappelling with an ATC - and she still hasn't forgiven Carolina for making her use "something so small"... More on our adventures here still to come!
