Imagine falling asleep in your hammock while breastfeeding your child, and not having to worry about what the neighbors will think. Bask in the sun on your front lawn without cars or foot traffic using you as scenery. Letting your children play in your yard without fear of them running into the road. Sit on your porch with your family staring into the night sky without being blinded from someone pulling into their driveway. All the while being close enough to walk over to your neighbor's for your daily coffee break, or waving friends to come up onto the porch and visit for a while. Would you be required to buy a pre-existing home or choose from a small selection of models? No. Build your own home to your own standards and preferences. Our requirements are small and exist for the appearance, as well as peace and quiet of the village. |

OUR BUILDING RESTRICTIONS We have no building codes or restrictions for our county, but we want our homes to look nice. You can camp as long as your site is fairly hidden -don't worry we have lots of trees! When you do build your home, we would ask that the outside of your home be natural; covered by or made of stone, brick, or wood. No visible cement, steel, aluminum or vinyl. For this reason, trailers or modular homes would not be appropriate and only temporary unless resided. Cottages or log cabins would fit in perfectly with this rustic, natural theme... or even underground homes. Garages, sheds, or other outbuildings on your property would be held to the same standards as your home. There would also be no paved/asphalt/cement driveways or walkways. You would be more than welcome to have your own personal garden(s), livestock outbuildings and such since all members recieve 2 acres of land , go ahead and use it. Cummunity Duties- For the sense of community, everyone would be expected help with building our homes. We are here to help each other so we should be avaiable to help out with man power for each other whenever possible. This would serve two purposes: to bring everyone together socially and to share the burden of supporting the community however we could. Our basic philosophy would be if you use it, you must give back. . Of course, Members who were not able to physically contribute to the tasks at hand could contribute in other ways. Help with the homeschooling, teaching skills, cooking, etc. and still be considered to have fulfilled his/her community duties. Community gatherings also bring a need for pitching in. There are tables to be set beforehand, meals to be cooked and served, and of course dishes to clean up afterwards. Parties or celebrations require some forethought and preparation which everyone could help out with, as well as decorating and childcare. Barter System In Wanderers End, no Member would be monetarily indebted to another. We all have quite enough financial debt as it is. Instead, we would trade things or skills on barter. You need someone to watch your children for two nights this month while you have an "in-home date" with your husband. One of the Members needs curtains for her kitchen. Wa-la! You make her the curtains, she watches your children... everyone comes out benefiting and happy. At Wanderers End we believe in helping your neighbors as well as getting to know them. |
