Erin's Florence Journal #10

Friday was the day Glenn planned to go back to Bologna to check on our long-overdue mail from the states. We figured that since I'd be free today, it woul be good to use some time to update our website again. Glenn and I headed to the internet point after AGAIN changing rooms this morning, where he helped me to hook up our various camera and PDA equipment to upload our week of photos and journals. After some initial difficulties, we got things to a manageable stage, and Glenn headed off to the train station.

I spent almost 8 hours working on resizing and uploading photos - PhotoShop can do some amazing things with digital pics! I got all the good ones put into our website file manager, then worked on bringing in the journal documents. By the time I got all the files into the file manager, I only had time to create about 4 web pages for the site before my internet time ran out! I couldn't believe the entire day had passed already!

So around 7:30, I left the internet cafe and went back to the Chinese place Shayne and I had found to get some of the yummies we'd gotten before. I brought those and a bottle of local Chianti back to the hostel and sat in the common room typing the last 5 days' journals. I almost forgot to do laundry, but managed to get it started around 10pm.

The other item of interest was that one of the few people who actually live at the hostel and is the resident artist, approached me while I was typing and asked to sketch me, so that I could become a part of the hostel wall decorations. I agreed to do it, but took so long getting finished up with my typing and laundry that he was busy playing guitar by the time I went outside. Bummer! I could've been an honorary permanent resident there!
