Sevilla's Cathedral - the altar is an entire gold-plated wall, intricatedly carved with Bible scenes!

We slept late, as I was still tired after my short sleep of the overnite train trip the day before. When we were finally ready to go, we wandered around looking for breakfast. I wanted eggs, so we found a diner near the Cathedral, after stopping to take pictures and running into the girls from the night before. We made plans to meet them for the flamenco bar we'd discussed the night before and wished them happy sightseeing.

At the diner finally, I ordered eggs & ham, anticipating a yummy traditional breakfast. I was horrified when it was delivered swimming in oil a half inch thick in the plate! It turned my stomach, and I couldn't eat it. I call it the Grease Monkey breakfast from hell! Glenn had wisely ordered a sandwich, and was able to eat his.

After that, we went to the internet cafe, trying to contact Glenn's cousin in hopes of meeting up with him for the weekend, and also our friends in Cadiz, thinking we could stop in to see them as well. We traded a few emails around while I munched on an apple we'd picked up in Barcelona before leaving.

Done with email, we went to the Cathedral. It was worth the 6 Euro each entry fee, as it is huge and very beautiful. We wandered through the immense and decadent interior, taking a few pictures that don't convey the grandeur at all, then went up the tower of the campanilla (bell tower) 35 stories for great view of Sevilla.

By the time we left, it was late afternoon. We considered touring the nearby Alcazar, but knew it would be too late to see it all, so we walked to the Plaza di Spagna instead. This too is an impressive public square, with a mini-moat around the square that you can rent paddle boats in, and ducks, and horse-drawn carriages in plenty to hire. We walked around, took pictures and admired the little shrines to each Spanish city all around the square.

After the pictures, we went to the park across the street, played Yahtzee and watched the birds while we lounged in the shade for a while. Not for too long though, as it was only 7:30 and too early to eat. I had a craving for Japanese food that day (rare, for me), and we walked around several parts of the city looking for Japanese food, but didn't find it. We settled for Chinese instead, which was quite good and just in time to meet the girls at 10:30. We went to a nearby bar to see amateur flamenco & drink sangria till almost 2am. Then we all had to bail out for sleep, as the girls were leaving town in the morning and we were tired!
