Erin's Alhaurin El Grande Journals 6-10-02 This would be our last full day in Alhaurin El Grande. George was so wonderful and gave us free use of the house while he took care of some chores for the day. We walked down to the town in the morning to see about getting my glasses fixed first (I'd had to watch the movie the night before in my sunglasses!), and were pleasantly surprised when the store owner took one look, quickly screwed in a new screw, and handed them back, refusing any payment! Then we stopped 2 doors down at a watch shop and had my watch battery replaced - it had been dead since Venice, almost 2 months ago! This only cost a little over 2 Euro, and we were feeling very productive already! Two chores down! We also wanted to get some photos of the town, which we hadn't done yet, so we wandered a bit, then got info on the bus into Malaga for the next day. We didn't want to hassle George with getting up early and driving us in to catch our train to Granada, and found that the bus would do just fine. We also found another barber, where Glenn gleefully got his hair cut off again. I have pictures of the once-again military style cut. After our wanderings, we found some snacks and an English movie rental place, where we rented Bridget Jones' Diary in honor of George (but he's Irish, actually) and headed back to George's place for some more emails and some sunbathing up on the roof. I'd been up there enjoying the view the day before, and some of George's neighbors had apparently asked him if he had a new girlfriend! So today after the movie, Glenn and I both went up and lay out, but it was too hot up there and I quickly went back inside. Glenn soon joined me, and we cleaned up before heading down to relax on the couch and chat with George, who was back from his duties. George cooked us a wonderful chicken dinner that night, and we scarfed it down like starved people, knowing it would be our last home-cooked meal until we got home! Yum! |
