Glenn's Rome Journals 4-26-02 Friday was a day to rest from our extremely busy week in Rome, not to mention the late night we had on Thursday hanging out with Andres, Sylvia, Dario, and Paola. We decided upon waking that we would stay another day, to catch up with ourselves, and that we could always catch the train to Lecce on Saturday. So, first things first, I headed downstairs to verify that we could stay another day, which in turn the nice young lady behind the desk worked something out for us (as they had already rented out the room we were in due to the fact that we had told them the night before that we would be leaving.) From here we both enjoyed a somewhat leisurely breakfast (by 10:30 am as that is when the kitchen closes for the morning) and prepared for the day. We started the day by dropping Erin off at the internet cafe to work on the website for a while. My duties included finding the post office to check for mail that my parents had sent well over a week ago (remember the troubles we had in Bologna), mail a package home that included my camera which crapped out on me a week ago or so, and check train schedules for our next day of travel. My tasks took about 3 hours to accomplish, and no the mail did not arrive in Rome as planned. We will have to make a return stop through Rome sometime later in this trip to retrieve the mail. I hope it arrives by then. The mailing of the package was no hassle as the postal employees were very helpful. I returned to the internet cafe around 3:30 pm to check on Erin and see if she was ready to do something else. She had worked on the website for quite a few hours by then and was tiring of viewing the computer screen, as you can imagine. She headed off to lunch while I stayed to work with the photo editor to size all of the photos that we had downloaded earlier that day. Erin returned around 5:00 pm and we continued to work on the website and respond to emails until 7:00 pm when we definitely decided that we had had enough. We found a quaint little restaurant just around the corner from where we were staying, enjoyed a wonderful meal with some entertaining waiters and returned home to catch some sleep before our long journey to Lecce on Saturday. |
