There were several pretty parks in Lecce, but most were too shaded for us

Sunday morning we awoke to a gorgeous sunny day in Lecce. What were we to do today? The real question was, What would be open today to do??? We had breakfast at the hotel, as it was included in the price of the room, showered, and off we were to explore Lecce. We also decided that if it was possible, we would go to the beach.

We ventured out of the hotel and down to the train station to check on means to travel to either of the closest beach communities. Well, as luck, and Sundays, would have it, the last bus to San Cataldo was leaving at 2:00 pm from town center (it was 1:00 pm) and the regularly scheduled buses that ran to Gallipoli were not running today. The only bus to Gallipoli went at 10:00 am that morning. Now we were off to town to see what else was going on, and if we so decided, we would catch the bus to San Cataldo at 2:00 pm.

Lecce was quiet on Saturday when we arrived but even quieter on Sunday early afternoon while we were walking through the city. We ended up near city center, sitting on a park bench, enjoying the day while reading our books and people watching. We were tempted by the McDonald's in the city center but did not have anything to eat there, not even ice cream!!!

After spending most of the afternoon in the park we strolled back to the hotel, rested, cleaned up, and returned back to town for some local food. We found a neat little restaurant in town where we had our usual of antipasti, pasta, bread, and wine. Again another wonderful meal at a reasonable price. From here we returned to the hotel to prepare for Monday, which included our trip to Greece.
