| Glenn's Positano Journals 5-18-02 Today is Saturday!!! I have to check what the day of the week it is every so often so I realize how busy the town will be. The plan today is to enjoy the boat around Capri and the Positano waters. The four of us awoke early and prepared for the day. O.K. so preparation was getting on our bathing suites and sunscreen for a day on the water. Rough life I know but someone has to do it!!! Our first stop was at the supermarket where we bought panini´s for the day along with wine (3 bottles), beer, snacks, breakfast, and water (Aqua Naturale of course). We ran into Radha and Amon at the supermarket and all headed down the port together. We arrived around 9:30 am and were easliy on our way by 10:00 am. The boat included a driver and a cooler full of ice to keep all of the importnat food (O.K. Wine and Beer) cold. We headed off to Capri, our first stop of the day. It took over one hour to get there but we didn´ care as we enjoyed the sun, good conversation, and the ocean waters. Occasionally we would come across a bigger boat that would toss us around a little, but not to bad to truly bother any of us. Once we reached Capri we quickly went ashore and headed to the main center of town. We did realize that the main center was above the port but we probably did not realize just how far that was. We had told the driver that we would be back in 1 1/2 hours and it tiook us most of the first 45 minutes to get to the top. We checked out the view, took a few photos, and checked out a few shops along the strip. With about 15 minutes left we quickly headed back down the flight of stairs that we had come up on and returned to the boat. We were only a few minutes late, but who cared, we were on our own time schedule. Once we had left the port of Capri we were ready for lunch and a swim. We anchored just a few minutes from port for a swim in some beautiful waters of the coast of Capri. The waters are so clear it is unbelievable. A little cool to boot!!! After lunch we headed back towards Positano and traveled along the Amalfi coast for a while. When we were bored with boating we would inherently stop to take another swim.This is the life!!!! We finally returned to the Positano port a little after 5:00 pm with a total agreement that the day had been a success. We wondered about Jana and Ray but didn´t get a chance to check e-mails. We hoped we had not missed them today. We returned home to clean up before we were meeting around 7:00 pm at a local restaraunt. We met up at the restaraunt to order pizza´s to go (take away) and while we were waiting for the pizza´s the ladies set off to handle the desert requests for the evening (Tiramisu and ice cream). Once we had gathered all the food required for the evening, including more wine, we went back to the hotel and played Shangai Rummy for most of the evening. We called it quits around 11:00 pm as we were all worn out from the day in the sun. |
