Sunday morning brings us back to packing up and moving out. The Pensione Maria Luisa only had a room for the for of us through Saturday night so we were moving on to a hostel that we had heard about in Atrani. We were not in any specific hurry and had intended to spend most of the day in Positano as the hostel owner was not expecting us until 5:00 pm or so.

We started the day with breakfast on the balcony overlooking the waters of Positano. Today was a little more overcast which made us extremely happy that we had rented the boat yesterday instead of today. What luck!!! After breakfast we went into town to find Erin a bathing suit as her top had broken yesterday while we were out on the boat. Erin spent some time lookig for a bathing suit but to no avail.

We also wanted to check e-mail in case our friends, Jana and Ray, had sent us an e-mail. If you remember we were still trying to meet up with them in Italy and had missed each other yesterday. We had received an e-mail and Jana and Ray had not stopped in Positano but had passed through. They were still staying in Sorrento and taking day trips from there. They were heading on to Rome today. Our next attempt at meeting them may be in Rome.

After spending the morning in town we went back to the super market to pick up panini´s for lunch. We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon on the balcony of the Pensione Maria Luisa before taking out to Atrani.

The trip to Atrani required us to catch the orange bus into Positano, and then trek up the hill to catch a bus to Atrani. Of course I remind you that we did all of this with our packs fully loaded. The hills of Positano were definitely a work out. Once we had arrived at the top of the hill where the bus to Atrani would pick us up we determined that we had to buy bus tickets back at the tobacco store back at the bottom of the hill. Dave and I took off for the Tobacco store with only 10 minutes remaining before the bus was due to arrive. (We did leave our packs with the ladies to watch so that helped our chances.) We hurried down the hill, purchased tickets, and ran back up the hill (all the while huffing and puffing) before the bus arrived. Lucky for us the bus was actually a few minutes late or we may have missed it.

We arrived in Atrani only a little while later, found the hostel with some help from other folks staying there, and then proceeded to wait for the manager for another half hour until he finally showed up. (We had arrived at 4:30 pm and he had gone into town with his wife for lunch. He probably did not get to do this often if he ran a hostel as they are typically open all hours of the day and night.) Both couples decided on double rooms which (for 26 Euro´s per person) included dinner and breakfast. The rooms were acceptable even though the ceiling was a little low for both Erin and I.

After settling in to our new digs we took off to check out a little of Atrani. We went to the waters edge and, since it was Sunday, there were not many folks to be seen. The hostel was located near a little square which had a few restaraunts including an American Bar. When it started to rain we quickly headed under cover and ending up sitting at the American bar for afternoon drinks prior to dinner. Dinner was served at 8:00 pm and included a pasta dish which wasn´t too bad for free. After dinner we found ourselves right back at the American bar enjoying some after dinner drinks and playing Shangai rummy. We called it a night around 11:00 pm, especially since Erin and I were off to Pompei in the morning. Dave and Marile were going to stay in Atrani one more day so we said our good byes before heading to bed.
