About Reiki Healing
Hi, I'm Margie.  As a Reiki Master in the Usui and Tibetan methods of healing, I feel blessed to share this gift with you whether you are
a recipient of healing or an initiate into the attunement process.
For me, the gift of healing is a sacred contract between myself
and Universal Divinity.  I hope the following information helps you understand this awesome and humbling gift.
What is Reiki?

Reiki is a technique that assists the receiver in achieving an altered, healing state of consciousness.  A Reiki practitioner channels universal life force energy to the recipient.  It is the God-consciousness called
Rei that guides the life force called Ki in the practice we call Reiki. Therefore, Reiki can be defined as spiritually guided life force energy.

How Does Reiki Work?

In addition to physical injury, life force can be disrupted in other ways.  If we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves, they can cause disruptions in the flow of life force.   Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field  and raising the vibration in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached.  Reiki clears, straightens and heals energy pathways, thus allowing life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Where Does Reiki Come From?

The practice of Reiki was
re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan around the turn of the previous century.  The practice of Reiki has close connections with Tibetan Buddhist symbology and practices.  Various Eastern and Western methods of applying Reiki have evolved since this time.

What Does Reiki Feel Like?

Most of my clients enter an altered state of consciousness and become very relaxed.  Some become aware of colors surrounding
their bodies or hear soothing sounds.  Some feel only a pleasant sense of relaxation.  In many instances, pain and discomfort disappear or are reduced substantially.  Reiki is being used in many hospitals as an effective adjunct therapy for pain relief.

Is Reiki a Religion?

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

How is a Reiki Treatment Given?

In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and  the feet. How long each position is held depends on how much Reiki the client "pulls in."   A full treatment lasts about an hour.

Reiki can also be given across distances and without time constraints.  Like certain properties within quantum physics, Reiki is not dependent on a linear understanding of space and time.  The name of the recipient, his/her age and condition,  and a picture, if possible, all help the practioner to channel Reiki appropriately.
