False Web Sites

Another aspect of abuse of the internet which causes concern to us is the deliberate creation of web sites that claim to be Scottish Nationalist initiatives but in reality are set up for completely different reasons entirely, and are not only lacking in nationalist sympathies, but are in fact created to destroy the very thing they claim to support.

Sadly the majority of those who vote for the nationalist cause in Scotland feel that just as long as they vote, then they have done the their job and nothing further is expected from them, as they feel that they are participating in a lawful democratic process.  Unfortunately in these days of government paranoia, and the inherent abuses of government intelligence and security agencies by politicians desperate to hold on to the remnants of empire and the status quo of the United Kingdom, there is a school of thought in the hallowed halls of Whitehall and Westminster which holds that the nation of Scotland is best served by remaining part of this Union.  Any Scots unwilling to accept this should be perceived as "dissidents" or "radical extremists", hardly a new concept in the history of England and the British Empire.  In this case, however, we do not see their disapproval being levelled at a handful of dissatisfied "separatists", but instead they have targeted almost half the voting population of Scotland - those who in their ignorance have dared to vote SNP.

At the moment it would appear that Westminster politicians have stilled the clamour for Scottish Independence by the creation of a Scottish parliament with a carefully considered amount of devolved powers.  This has indeed served to appease a section of the nationalist vote, however there are those who recognised the creation of what is more a Scottish Assembly or Scottish Office than a true parliament, and who remain vocally sceptical of such a sop to the nationalist electorate.  It is these people, the not-so-gullible realists, that we urge to take notice of the contents of this article.  It will come as no surprise to learn that "permission" has been granted for phone-tapping operations to be carried out by both the police and other intelligence agencies.  Furthermore, it has been revealed that there already exists the means and practice of both mail and e-mail surveillance, and this last particular operation is soon to be expanded dramatically.  Again, it will come as no surprise to learn that the vast majority of these operations are taking place in Scotland, despite the disparity in population with England.  What is becoming patently obvious is that the government are deliberately targeting those who actively disagree with their policies, in especial in relation to Scottish Independence.

The Labour government intends to introduce the "Domestic Terrorism Act" to curb any enthusiasm for Scottish radical thinking, and it will soon become a crime to espouse any objection to the actions of the British State.  With this in mind, and with the existing abuses of our Civil Rights, the next step by this government will be to identify those who actively disagree with their policies and/or support the break-up of the UK.  For those individuals in danger, Watchdog Scotland would strongly advise caution in relation to participation in "debates and discussions" on web sites which are relatively new on the scene and who purport to be "Nationalist" in their outlook.

It is our considered opinion that such web sites that already exist have indeed played their part in keeping the flame of hope alive for Scottish nationalists who have recognised that the political party owning their allegiance has, in fact, fallen in line with unionist guidelines, and no longer shows the determination required to attain the goal of Scottish Independence.  The present government, though pleased that their strategy to contain the SNP has worked so well, is now determined that all lesser voices of opposition must be stilled.
