"Tay, buddy, I know. But she is hard-headed, stubborn, and way to hooked on her independence to EVER take a dime from you, especially where her career is concerned. You know that right?" he asked me.
I groaned. "Yeah, I know. But then she wouldn't be Jess.." I grinned.
Jake had to agree. I gave him my lawyer's card. We ate our breakfast and then Jake gave me directions to the couple of places that I needed to go. We got up to leave, and Jake insisted on buying breakfast.
"Least I can do... considering. Don't worry, man. See ya in a few hours.." he said.
"Yeah, Jake. Later.."
I got into Jessie car. I had a few errands to run. Important ones.
TAYLOR:

I got all the things I needed to do, done. Just in time to get Jess and take her to lunch, as a matter of fact, she was probably wondering what was taking me so long. I parked her car and about ran up the stairs to her apartment. I laughed to myself. She's up and around, she had to be from the volume of the music blaring from in there. Oh my god. She's got that same CD in from last night, I thought to myself. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to concentrate on NOW, and what I was about to do, instead of what she did to me. I tried the door, but it was still locked. I used her keys to unlock it and opened the door. She had the stereo blasting and was standing with her back to me. She was straightening up the kitchen, but she was showered and dressed. She looked so sweet and sexy there, putting dishes away and singing with the radio, I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and hold her there, forever. I stepped up behind her, sure she
didn't hear or see me there and slid my arms around her waist. She squealed and jumped turning to look at me. I love to see the smile that spreads across her face when she sees me. She scolded me for scaring her and I apologized. I felt myself getting excited just holding her in my arms, then she kissed me. If I didn't take her to lunch right now we'd never leave this apartment. I teased her a little about her hangover and the song playing on the stereo. I wasn't lying, though. I'd never listen to that song the same way again. I led her out of the apartment and to the car. Time to meet Jake for lunch.
JESSIE:

We got in the car and Taylor drove toward the restaurant. Tay turned on the radio and I sat and listened to him sing absent-mindedly with it. I love the sound of his voice anyway, but when he sang, it made my heart pound. He caught me looking at him and smiled.
"What?" he asked.
"Nothing, baby. I just like to hear you sing. Did you even realize you were?" I giggled.
"No, I guess not. " he grinned sheepishly, and turned the radio off.
"You don't have to stop, Tay. I don't want you to." I said.
He took my hand and laced his fingers through mine.
"Sing something of yours, Tay. Please?" I asked softly.
"Really, Jess? Now?" he looked incredulous.
"Yes, now. I love to hear you sing, baby. Please?"
He just sat for a moment. I squeezed his fingers between mine, then lifted his hand to kiss it and smiled at him.

well this feeling that you're feeling
is something i know you've felt before
when i see you i wanna hold you
till the end of time
and a little bit more

and i'm not gonna let it go
you gotta let your feelings show
so smile
give me all your heart
and we'll never be apart
i'll never leave you lonely
if you just smile
tell me that you care
and i'll always be there
i'll never leave you hurting
if you just smile
He stopped singing because we were at the restaurant. He turned to look at me and laid his hand on my cheek.
"Thank you, baby." I said softly.
He brushed my hair back off my face and kissed me sweetly.
We went inside to find Jake already seated and on his cell phone. He motioned us to join him and wrapped up his phone call.
"Hey sis! Feelin' ok this morning?" Jake teased me.
"Oh STOP! I just woke up with a stupid headache, that's all. I don't have a hangover, dammit! And I'm hungry..." I grinned at both of them.
"Get everything all taken care of Jakey?" I asked.
"Yeah, thanks to Tay." Jake said.
We ate lunch and talked a while, then Jake excused himself claiming more errands to run.
"Jakey! You're as bad as I am. You gonna slow down at all this weekend?" I asked.
"Jessie. I am nowhere near as bad as you are..I KNOW when to sleep. I will get everything done so that you only have to worry about doing your best in Detroit. That's what I'm here for. We'll relax a little once we are RELOCATED. Okay?"
"Kay, Jake. See ya." I told him and kissed him on the cheek.
He ruffled my hair and said, "Once you see Taylor off tomorrow, call me and we'll get the rest of your stuff packed and have the movers come and get it. You can stay at my place this week, okay?"
"Okay. I'll call you."
"Take it easy, Tay. See you in Detroit if not before. " he told him and thumped him on the shoulder.
"Later, Jake. Take it easy." Tay answered him. They exchanged a lok that I had no idea what to think of. I had to wonder what the hell was going on.
Jake strode out of the building, I noticed that alot of the women in here couldn't take their eyes of either Jake, or Tay. Whatever woman wound up with my brother would be very lucky, but the women olgling the man on my arm were aggravating me beyond belief. That was an entirely new feeling for me and I didn't like it.
"Tay? Can we get out of here? I can't handle the stares anymore today." I said.
He put is arm around my shoulders and kissed me, then stroked my hair.
"I have days like that, too, Jess. But you know that when you start winning it won't be any different for you... you just have to get used to it." he said.
I sighed. "I know Tay. It's just that I have to wait so long to see you..but it won't be like that for long." I said brightening a little.
"Yeah..." he said, smiling down at me. "But let's go anyway."
