| "Oh." I blushed as Jake sat there shaking his head. "Yes, Watts, it is." he answered for me. "OH...MY...GOD! You are engaged..to...?" she stopped. "Yup!" Jake answered for me again. "Taylor." Her eyes got wide and she hugged me squealing. "That's so awesome oh my god...when?" "Last weekend." I said quickly shooting Jake a dirty look. He grinned at me and I shook my head. "Wow! Congratulations.." "Thanks." The rest of the evening went without event, we had a nice time and Watts was fun to be around. She was a little more wild than me, and I could picture her and Zac together. Then I shook my head. They'd drive each other nuts. I couldn't stifle a yawn. "I'm sorry you guys. I dunno why I am so tired tonight.." I apologized. "That's okay, Jessie. I'm feeling a little beat myself." Watts replied. "And tomorrow is gonna be a killer. Where you guys stayin'" she asked. Jake told her and she squealed again. "Me too...we can walk back together." Jake motioned for the waitress to come and he paid the bill, buying Watts' dinner too. "Oh you don't have to do that.." she protested. "I'm glad to Watts. Don't worry about it." Jake told her. "Okay. But if I can actually beat Jess, tomorrow...dinner will be on me." she giggled. "Deal." I said and smiled. |
| We parted ways in the hotel lobby. I hugged Watts goodnight and followed Jake to the elevator. He stooped at my room door and gave me a little pep talk. "You are gonna kick everyone's ass tomorrow, Jess. I know you can. Just relax. I think that's part of the reason you're so tired. You're stressing and you don't even realize it. I will be here and so will Tay. You'll be awesome.." he said and kissed my cheek. I hugged him. "Jake I couldn't have asked for a better brother. I love you, you big pain in the ass." "I love you too. Get some sleep." "Nite, Jakey." "Nite" he said and ruffled my hair. I went into my room and got ready for bed. I was lying under the covers watching TV in the dark, trying to go to sleep, when the phone rang. "Yeah?" "Hi, Jess." It was Tay. "Hi baby. What are you up to?" I asked. "Just finished packing my bags. Zac is driving me insane, Jess." I giggled. "Figures." "How are you doing?" he asked, "Nervous yet?" "No actually, I'm just tired. But I can't sleep." "You can't?" "No. I don't get it. I've never had trouble sleeping before.." "I know why I can't sleep.." he said softly. "Oh no Tay. Not you too.." I said. "Yeah..I lay awake thinking about you all night long, Jess. I miss you so much." "I guess that must be it. It's worse here though, I don't have my Cd's with me and Jake has the other one...I ususally listen to yours when I'm tired." I said. "It's like you're here singing me to sleep." "You really do that, Jess?" he asked. "Yeah..I told you. I love to hear you sing." There was a long moment of silence. "Tay?" "I'm here. I was just surprised, that's all." "Why? Your voice is absolutely beautiful. It's my favorite sound in the world. Even if you're only talking to me." "I love you so much, Jess." "I love you too." Suddenly I heard him clear his throat and hum. He began singing and tears sprang to my eyes. |

I closed them and listened to his voice. I was finally sleepy and was drifting off. "Nite, Jessie. I love you baby." I heard him say very quietly. "Mmmm...I love you, Taylor..so much.." I said as the phone slipped from my hand and I finally slept. |
