"Jame...want me to talk to him? I can if.." Taylor began, feeling bad for Jade and more than a little annoyed with Josh. "Nah." Jaimie answered, sipping from her coffe cup. "No solid proof. He'll just give you some BS about me being the daughter of Satan and having you sucked in under my evil spell.." she chuckled as Taylor stood gaping at her in disbelief. "He called you that?" he asked, grinning, but shocked. Jiamie chuckled again and shrugged. "My mother always used to say, 'if the shoe fits, wear it'. In this case it fits, so I'm wearin' it." she grinned at him again over the rim of her coffee cup as she sipped the last of it. "He's just mad 'cause he can't pull the wool over my eyes. He should have picked some one else if he can't keep it in his pants long enough to wait for Jadeleigh to be ready. Maybe I wouldn't be so hard on him if he didn't pick Angel, who wants everything Jade has just cause it Jade's." she finished and then sighed. A thought suddenly occured to her and she smiled brightly at Taylor. "Josh may find himself on the other side of that fence pretty soon, anyhow." she said and rinsed her cup out, setting it upside down in the sink. "What do you mean, Jame?" Taylor asked, already knowing the answer. "I can see from the way you're lookin' at me that you already know." she said. "I LIKE your brothers, Taylor." Jaimie looked at the clock and swore. "Dammit Tay. I'm sorry..." she said and threw her jacket on. "I gotta haul ass..." she grabbed her keys and smiled at him as he shrugged into his jacket and opened the door for her. He locked it and closed it behind him then caught up with her as she let herself into her van. "I just hope, Jame, that whatever happens..." he stopped, unable to make himself speak the thought out loud. "No way, Taylor. I don't play those games. Life's too fucking short." she sighed again, thinking of how much she missed Jimmy. "Good.." Taylor moved closer to her and kissed her softly, caressing her cheek. "I'll call you around 2?" he said, his eyes boring straight into her soul. "Kay. Get some sleep." she smiled and brushed his bangs out of his eyes. "Bye Tay." she kissed him again and started the van. "See you, Jame." he grinned and waited for her to pull away before getting into his own car and heading home. Ike was still up watching TV when Taylor came in the house. "Hey man.." Taylor said in greeting when Ike looked up. "Hey...have a good time?" Ike asked grinning. "Yeah. What'd you and Zac see?" Tay asked slumping down on the couch next to his brother. "Some cheesy action flick..don't waste your money bro." Ike said. "But it beat sitting home watching Zac hog the TV with the Playstation.." Taylor laughed. "Did Josh go with you guys? He's in deep shit if he did. He didn't call Jade. Stood her up, she called Jame just as she was leaving for work all upset." Taylor told him, fishing for a couple of answers, hoping Jaimie was wrong. "No. Actually, Jade went with us." Ike told him. "She did?" Tay asked surprised. "Yeah. I called 'cause Josh said he'd be over there and that maybe they'd both come to the movie, but she said she been waiting for him for over an hour. I felt bad that he did that to her so I asked her to join us." he shrugged. "It was fun. She didn't complain about the movie much either. Scared the hell outta Zac too." he chuckled. "Threatened him with a looong needle. She works in a doctor's office." Taylor laughed. "She was still upset?" Ike asked. "She was crying I think.." Taylor answered. "Josh showed up at the theater and got pissed 'cause she was out with us. He said he just got busy and forgot to call." Ike told him. 'He was probably gettin' busy alright' Tay thought to himself, pissed that Jaimie was right and embarrased to call Josh a relative at the moment. "She left, and told him not to bother to follow her," Ike continued. "But I didn't think she'd still be that upset." he said, obviously concerned. 'Oh boy.." Taylor thought to himself, 'here we go' "Dude. I am beat. Jaimie kicked my ass at pool and...anyway I need a shower and then I'm gonna crash. 'Night man." he said and hoisted his long body off the couch. "Later.." Ike said absently, thinking about Jade. As soon as he heard his brother in the shower, Ike picked up the phone. |
"Hello?" Jade answered the phone hurriedly, wrapping herself in a large fluffy towel. She had taken Jaimie's advice and soaked a while in a hot bubble bath to try to relax, so she could sleep. "Hi, Jade. It's Issac. You weren't asleep yet, were you?" he asked. "No. I wasn't." she answered him, dumbfounded. "What can I do for you? Are you looking for Tay? I just talked to.." Ike cut her off. "No. He's here. I wanted to talk to YOU. Are you okay?" he asked. Jade held the phone away from her ear and looked at it as if it had grown a head. "I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" she asked. "Well.." Ike began cautiously, "Tay said that.." Jade cut him off this time. "He was there when I called Jaimie. Shit." she grumbled. "Yes. I am fine. I called Jaimie because I was still angry, Ike. I didn't think the Tay would still be there and I was trying to catch her before she left for work. That's all." she sighed, hitching her towel more firmly around her chest as she shivered. "Okay. Hey turn up your heat woman, your teeth are chattering." he said. "Ike, can you hold on just a sec? I was just getting out of the tub and this towel is damp and cold.." she said, chuckling. "Sure, unless you want me to let you go?" he offered. "Nope, just wanna throw on my robe. Do you mind?" she asked. "No, Jade. I want you to freeze to death." he said sarcastically, trying to block the visual of her in nothing but a towel from his brain. Jade giggled. "Hang on.." she hurried to her bedroom, grabbed her robe and threw it on, then settled herself on the couch, shocked that Ike was taking the time to talk to her. She felt a minor stab of guilt, thinking that this wasn't fair to Josh, then quickly shoved it down. She and Ike were friends, and he was here for her when Josh was NOT. And besides she was still pissed at Josh, he still hadn't given her an explanation, didn't follow her home and hadn't bothered to try to call either. She put the reciever back up to her ear. "Still there? " she asked. "Yeah. Warm now?" he asked her. "Yup! So what did you wanna talk to me about?" she asked. "Aww Jade. I was just checking on you. Tay said you sounded like you were...upset.." he caught himself about to say 'crying' but changed his mind. "I thought since Tay hogged Jaimie all night you might need someone to talk to. I'm a good listener." he told her. "You are, but I am not gonna trash your cousin to YOU. I'm just still angry with him." she said. "Hey..how's Zac? I didn't over traumatize him threatening him with needles and stuff did I?" she giggled wanting to switch to a subject other than Josh. "He'll live, maybe." he chuckled and they moved on to other things. It was two hours later when both realized the time, and jade apologized for yawning loudly in his ear. "I really should go though. Jaimie's picking me up at 6 am. We're having breakfast when she get out of work. I better get SOME sleep. Thank you for calling though." she smiled and Ike could just about picture it as she spoke. "You're welcome. It sounds like I managed to cheer you up." he said and she could picture him grinning on the other end. "You did. Thanks again. I'm sure I'll see you soon." she said. "You bet." he answered. "Jade?" he called her name timidly. "Yes, Ike?" she waited. "If Jaimie's not around and you wanna talk. Feel free to call me." he said softly, knowing that he shouldn't offer, but unable to resist. "Thank you Issac. I'll remember that. You do the same, okay?" she said, knowing she was asking for trouble, but something about him kept drawing her in and she didn't want to think about not ever talking to this great, funny and considerate guy again. "Kay. 'Night Jade." Ike said, his voice getting lower. "Goodnight, Isaac." Jade answered and slowly hung up the phone. |
