Jamie stayed quiet, immersed in her own thoughts and screaming fears, all the way back to her apartment. Occasionally, Taylor would look at her, trying to gauge what was going on in her head. His mind was still reeling from the intensity of this last love-making session between them; and he hoped, with all of his being, that she would eventually let herself fully FEEL what he knew she felt for him. He saw it in her eyes, and felt it in her grip on him when her climax finally overtook her body. He had to admit that the intensity of his feelings for her, and the freight-train speed with which they'd slammed into him, even made him a little afraid.  Jamie finally slipped out of her own little world and looked up at Taylor, to find him staring at her. "Taylor...the road.." she nodded out the front window, grinning. "Sorry." he grinned sheepishly at her, as he swerved back into the right-hand lane. "I was just wondering what you were thinking so hard about."
he said, cautiously. "Not a lot." she smiled and squeezed his hand. "I think I was sleeping with my eyes open.." she lied, trying to avoid the subject of 'us', which she knew was coming if she didn't forestall it immediately. "You sure, Jame?" he asked, squeezing her thigh gently. "Yeah..." she sighed, then yawned.
"Kay. Want a wake up call, later?" he asked as he pulled into her driveway, behind her father's truck. "Yeah...you better..." she smiled up at him. She was terrified, but the thought of
NOT hearing from him, or NOT seeing him scared her a little more. "Kay." he said and put the car in park, but left the motor running. "What time baby? I don't wanna wake you up too early."  "Around six...I think that'll be plenty, and I have some things to do before I go. I promised my daddy a good breakfast," she smiled, and Taylor noticed her eyes lighting up at the mention of her father. "he'll be awake by then too." she finished. Taylor reached over and tucked a lock of her hair behind her ears. "Your 'daddy' is a lucky man." he said softly, and stroked her cheek. "He is, huh?" Jamie giggled, making Taylor chuckle. "I'd like to meet your Dad, Jame, when he's feeling himself I mean." he saw a flash of panic cross her face and he wanted to applaud her for how quickly
she got it under control. "Not tonight, silly. You have breakfast with your dad, and I'll stop over a little later, okay? I want you to read something and I didn't bring it with me." he looked questioningly at her.
"Okay." she said softly as he leaned toward her. "I was hoping you'd say that.." he said, his voice low, as he leaned farther into her and pressed his lips softly against hers. Her arms went around his neck, instictively, and one hand found its way into his soft hair. Her lips parted to let his tongue trace hers, and his large, warm hands caressed her back and shoulders. "Oh god, Jame.." he breathed as they managed to pull away from each other. He rested his forehad on hers and cupped her cheeks in his hands. "I better go, baby. You'll never get any sleep..." he said softly and kissed her again. "I'll call you at six.." he breathed as her hand twined in the ends of his hair. "Okay.." she managed, her voice barely audible and her eyes closed. "Jamie, look at me.." he said, his voice still low, and a bit rough. Her eyes popped open and their gazes locked. Taylor's heart swelled as he caught what he wanted to see, before she threw her guard up again.  he kissed her hard and thoroughly, taking her by surprise. He jumped from the car and ran around to open her door, before she could say a word. He gave her a hand out and walked her to the door, kissing her again before she opened the door and let herself in. As soon as the door was open, he flashed her that blinding, warm smile and tucked her hair back.
"See you soon, Jame. Sweet dreams." Taylor told her, the last coming out in a rough whisper. "Bye, Tay. Thanks for..." he stopped her mid-sentence, putting his finger to her lips. "It's alright, Jame. Get some sleep, kay?" he said and leaned down to kiss her again. Jamie closed her eyes and let herself savor this kiss, the back of her mind screaming warnings in Jimmy's voice. She gave Jimmy's voice a rough mental shove and pressed herself against Taylor's warm, strong body.
"Jame.." he groaned as he pulled back, "I have to let you sleep sometime." he grinned down at her. She smiled up at him and was about to open her mouth to reply, but was interrupted by the sound of Taylor's cell phone ringing. Taylor groaned and rolled his eyes, then stepped back and looked at the display. "It's Ike..just a sec, Jame..." he told her with an apologetic look. Jamie waved at him to answer it. "What's up, Ike?" he asked without saying hello. "Hello to you too." Ike said sarcastically, chuckling. "Yeah, hi. What do you want?" Taylor snapped, annoyed. "I will assume your attitude means that you are still with Jamie?" Isaac laughed, shooting Jade, still sitting next to him in the booth a knowing grin. Jade covered her mouth to stifle a giggle. "Yeah whatever. She's right here. Why?" Taylor demanded. "Beacuse." Ike answered back, "Jade is sitting next to me distraught over her friend. Is Jamie okay?" he asked and Jade leaned forward, looking at Ike intensely, worry for her friend very obvious. Isaac instinctively reached out and covered her hand with his and smiled to reassure her. Jade sucked in her breath at the feel of Isaac's warm hand on hers, but quickly pushed the thoughts she was having aside and waited for him to tell her something about Jamie. "Jamie's fine." Taylor said and shot Jamie a disgusted glance, clearly showing he was annoyed at the seemingly stupid question. Jamie chuckled and crossed her arms over her chest, leaning casually against the doorframe. "Why wouldn't she be?" he rolled his eyes in Jamie's direction, making Jamie duck her head to keep from laughing out loud. Taylor shot her another blinding smile. "I am just the messenger, butthead. Don't be such an ass. Jade is worried. She said something about Jamie's dad." Ike retorted, miffed at his brother's attitude. "Her dad is fine, Jamie is fine and on her way to bed. Tell Jade she can stop worrying." Taylor grinned at Jamie, who groaned aloud. "Kay, bro. I'll tell her. Thanks." Ike replied.
"Dude...what are
YOU doing with Jade anyway?" Taylor winked at Jamie, who grinned wickedly back. Jamie sincerely hoped that jade would dump Josh and wind up with Ike. They were perfect for each other. "Zac was having fast food withdrwals. We just happened to bump into Jade and Patti on their lunch break. Okay? MOM?" Ike chuckled. "Just checkin'. " Taylor answered. "Later bro. I'm on my way home. Jame needs to get to sleep." Taylor leaned over and kissed her cheek softly. "Kay. See ya." Ike told him and both flipped their phones shut. "I'll call you at six and I'll see you around 8:30? 9:00?" Taylor asked Jamie. "Sounds like a plan. Drive careful home, Tay. This is Tulsa, not London." Jamie teased. Taylor  laughed. "Okay smartass. See you soon." he kissed her cheek again and strolled down the driveway to his car. "I was serious, Hanson. Drive careful." Jamie called out shocking herself. Taylor turned and took a few backward steps as he crosses his
heart and blinded her with his bright smile again. "I promise. Sleep well." he said and got into his car, slammed the door shut, and pulled away, carefully.
Jamie couldn't help but smile as she closed the door and locked it behind her.
