| Bulletin, May 25 - What are the ceilings like? The Nave will have large wooden arches with wood planking between. In the parish hall, we will have the same arches. However, it will include a dropped ceiling of tile to provide a “cushion” of air that will absorb sound. The Nave ceiling will be very beautiful & designed to reflect sound which will come from one source (altar or choir area). The parish hall ceiling needs the dropped ceiling to absorb sound rather than reflect it like the Nave. The hall will have many voices from many directions that will bounce & echo if sound absorbing material is not included in the design. The arches will still be visible & very beautiful in the hall. If we chose to leave the entire wood ceiling visible in the hall, we would need to install other sound absorbing materials such as large “boxes” or strips of special fabric on the walls & possibly ceiling to help prevent sound from bouncing around the room. The ceiling tiles & air “pocket” between the tiles & wood ceiling will absorb sound more effectively yet be less visibly distracting to the architecture of the room. | |||||||||||||||||||
April 27, 2008 Bulletin Question? How large is our new parish home? It is about 22,475 sq. ft. The nave will seat 600. The parish hall will seat 282 at round tables & 320 with only chairs (for over-flow seating). Question? How many acres do we own? We own 25 acres, but our current construction will use 15 acres. The additional acres give us room to grow in the future & provides green space.

May 18, 2008 Bulletin How much will our loan be? We expect to have a $1,600,000 loan. This is the balance due on our project after all the pledge donations are spent. The loan payments will begin in Feb 2009, & will be about $8,500 a month. It is a 25-yr. loan, but we hope to repay it early through additional gifts & fundraisers. Will we have an organ in the new parish center? We will not be able to move our current pipe organ due to the cost of moving & repairing it. Some repairs were done a few years ago. However, it still needs extensive work to restore it to good condition. Our worship space in phase one will become gathering space in phase two. We would incur significant costs to move the organ & repair the area in the gathering space where it was installed, when the permanent church is built in phase two. We will move our piano & clavinova to our new parish center. The clavinova is our electronic “organ” currently in the front of church.

Oct 14, 2007 Bulletin It is my understanding the Stations of the Cross will not be taken to the new church - is this correct? The Stations of the Cross are not an official liturgical rite. Nevertheless, this devotion is very dear to the hearts of many Catholics. The architecture & art of the Stations should best serve this devotion outside of the liturgy, but flow from it & lead back to the liturgy. (Environment & Art Letter, Oct ‘01) Therefore, our Liturgical Building Committee & Liturgical Consultant put much thought into the Stations of the Cross for our new parish center. The current Stations, while beautiful in the current structure, would not blend with the simple, elegant design of our new center. The Stations will provide an opportunity for this devotion, but not over-shadow the most important celebration - the Mass. On Thurs., Oct 25, 6:30pm in Drexler, we will have an open meeting with our Liturgical Consultant, Sr Mary Kay Panowicz. One of the agenda items will be the Stations of the Cross. All are encouraged to attend to help with these important decisions. What will happen to the old Stations? We will look for other uses such as a donation to a mission parish or possibly sell them to help defray our building costs. We are open to any suggestions. What will the Nave seating be like? We have included new solid oak pews with padded seats (sometimes called chairs) in our building budget. There will be single seats on the end of each row, which can easily be removed for wheelchair seating. We will also have 2 & 3 person pews/chairs. These single, double & triple pews can be fastened together & are very stable. They will not be attached to the floor so they can be used in phase two of our building project. They will all have kneelers. Check them out at Mass - we are using the sample pew up front as the presider’s chair for Fr Mike.

Sept 30, 2007 Bulletin What will be moved from the current building to the new parish center? The outside Mary statue, between the church & offices, will move into the gardens at our new site. Possibly as part of a meditation garden. The gold door of our tabernacle will be put into the new tabernacle. Also, the stained glass angel windows in the front of church will be moved into our new reservation chapel. The sanctuary lamp, candle stands, Evangelists statues (on back white altar), & both nativity (inside & outside) sets will also move to our new parish center. What will happen to the current church building? We have a committee working on this. At this time, no decision has been made. The current facility is expensive to heat/cool & is not handicap accessible. This & other factors make its future a unique challenge. If you have input on this process, please contact Leon Deutsch.
