| After the Russians liberated us on May 1, 1945, we were free to move outside to cook and live. We welcomed the open space, having been so tightly packed in the barracks.In the European Theatre there were 26,000 USAF POW's, 20,000 airmen KIA (Killed in Action) and 9,600 wounded. | |||||||||||||||||||||
