Living

A majority of students on the WDW College Program live in two apartment complexes:  Chatham Square and Vista Way.  If housing overflows, some students will live at The Commons.  The Commons is usually reserved for the International Program participants.

***NOTE***  Chatham Square is only available for participants that bring vehicles with them.  Those with cars are not guaranteed to be placed into Chatham.

***NOTE*** I think that Vista Way only has 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, but I am unsure of this.

What are the apartments like?

You can choose from a 1, 2, 3, or 4 bedroom apartment.  Each room holds 2 people.

How much is rent?

Rent varies depending on the number of bedrooms.  In 2001, 1 & 2 bedroom apartments were $79 and 3 & 4 bedroom apartments were $67 per week.  Rent was directly deducted from paychecks.

What's in the apartment?

Apartments include all kitchen appliances and utensils, a dining table and chairs, sofa, recliners or other large chairs, beds, and dressers.  Water, electricity, cable, and sewer are paid for.  A phone is provided and LOCAL service is provided.

What do the complexes have

Each complex has a swimming pool and a hot tub.  There is also a workout room and tennis court at each complex.  The clubhouse at each complex has a computer lab.  Cleaning materials such as vacuums and brooms can be checked out at the clubhouse.  Faxes can be sent and received at the clubhouse as well.  Each complex also has meeting rooms where classes take place.

What about laundry facilities?

There are laundry facilities at each complex.  At the beginning of 2002, Vista Way still uses quarters.  Chatham Square uses an electronic card that you put money on.  Take a couple of rolls of quarters with you to begin with.  You'll use the quarters up even if you live at Chatham Square.

What about transportation

There are buses that will take participants to and from the housing complexes to all parks, resorts, and everything Disney.  They also have shuttles at certain times that will go to Wal-Mart, The Crossroads (a shopping area with a grocery store), and Post Office.  Buses are run from Vista Way.  A bus will pick up those at Chatham Square and The Commons.  These buses run abut every 10-15 minutes.

So should I take my car

Yes!!!  If you have a car take it.  If not and it's possible, I would try and get one.  You will be able to get to the NECESSARY places with the bus transportation, but it is much easier to have your own car.  You will be able to hitch rides with friends as well, but your own car will be much more reliable.  Plus you'll make more friends that way.
