My Hit List 2)--- OUT WITH BUSH
George Bush Jr. has done very poorly as a president of the United States. He has destroyed much of the respect we had gained abroad over the years, especially in the middle east. He has expressed a great degree of disregard to the regulations and expectations that apply to a president through his actions. He has shown a disregard for the Constitution, working behind a bill OBVIOUSLY going against the constitution. He has also passed an act doing away with 4 ammendments and the right to habeas corpus.

Bush has destroyed the respect for the American government from the rest of the world, not to mention the citizens of his own nation, and swaying many who supported him during his campaign and in the beginning of his presidency. He has done this through his well know lack of proficiency in the area of communication, which is an essential quality of a leader of the most powerful nation on earth. Now, the purpose of this essay is not to lambast our president's intelligence based on the way in which he talks, but this deficiency is something that greatly detracts from the respect for the president that the people of the United States should ideally have. He has also lost a great deal of respect internationally , however unjustly, due to his disregard of the U.N. in the war on Iraq. I am not at all in favor of the U.N., nor do believe they are doing their job with any degree of proficiency, but that is a totally different topic.

Bush has shown a disregard for the expectations set on the president in several ways. He has spent more time on vacation during his presidency during any other president, showing a lack of responsibility and seriousness for his position, which is definetly not a desireable attribute in a president.President Bush has shown a lack of respect for the Constitution, for those of you who, like our dear president,do not know what this document means, it is the law of the rubric against which all laws of the United States must be measured. President Bush has shown a great lack of attention to the law in the support of the faith based initiative, which gives money to charitable organizations that have some sort of religious affiliation. The first ammendment clearly states "Congress shall make NO LAW regarding an establishment of RELIGION...". There must be a law of some sort made for the government to act, so this initiative is clearly unconstitutional. The only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that our president either does not know as much about constitutional law as a 13 year old, or simply chooses to ignore it, either of which would have extremely serious implications.

Last but far from least, Bush has passed a law essentially stripping suspected terrorists, who may or may not be American citizens, of the rights provided to them in the fourth, sixth, seventh, and eight ammendment. This shows not only a disregard for constitutional law, but for the personal freedom guarenteed therein. I find this to be doubly disturbing, as it implies that the many years of blood and sweat required to make this nation a free one could easily be set back significantly by one man. This is due to the political system we have in the US, but that is another issue altogether. If you don't know to what i am referring, i am referring to the patriot acts, allowing the FBI to use any means necessary (breaking ammendment 4) to apprehend suspected terrorists INDEFINETLY(breaking ammendmant 8) without a trial (breaking ammendment six and secen). Now, one may argue that this has not yet happen, but it quite easily could.

In conclusion, our election of George W Bush was a mistake. He has disregarded constitutional law and personal freedom provided for therein, he has squandered much respect for the US government hre and abroad, among other numerous mistakes. To reiterate what General McClellan said of the president at the time, " He is a well meaning buffoon" and should be relieved of his post as soon as possible.
