The very fact that this man has the power, influence and money that he does is a tribute to the corruption of corporate America. He is the icon of every sleazy CEO in the country. He got to power by stabbing people in the back and eliminating all competition. His company writes the most insecure, flaky, bloated O.S. on the market. The O.S. is so buggy, it necessitates pricey upgrades. And of course, the source is closed, thereby eliminating all chances of being able to fix things yourself. He readily defends his products as "new" and "innovative", but the only thing new about them is how much disk space and processor power they take up; and for what? So you can hear an audio clip as you click on an icon?
But it doesn't end at buggy software and competitor buy-outs; he also has quite a bit of influence. His influence (read: money) can be seen in the passing of the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), a perfect example on how, for the right price, even congress is for sale.
I could go on forever about Bill Gates' and Microsoft's corruption,

Nah, i hate America cos it is a symbol of corrupt politics in the western world, throws it's weight around, cos no-one will stand up to them. I also hate the attitude that America is best, and everyone wants to live there. The only thing i would like about america, is the california punk scene. The person going into hospital every 12 seconds in chicago with a bullet wound is something i would rather pass on. The idiocy that is the american government system, the way they insist on following the written letter of the constitution, even when it defeats the intention of the original document, the fact that Bush is one of the stupidest people in the world, and you guys voted him in, the 'every man is born equal' system, where some people get less of a vote than others (i'll explain that in another post if anyone doesn't get it.), the history of the country, the slave issue in particular, the fact that the KKK came from over there, the fact that your two party system has a Right-wing group, and an even further Right-wing set, the way the country's wealth has been built up by suppressing the rights of people who can't defend themselves.
All in all, i don't want all that much of what america has. I have lots of other reasons to hate america.
I may point out that i don't hate ALL americans, but i will say i've never met one face to face that i didn't want to punch.

Hey, like i said, i don't hate all americans, but from my experience, which i admit is a small group, ALL americans are irritating tourists, who think everyone wants to hear their theories on why america is better than england. Like i say, i live in england, so i don't meet many. I don't believe in having high expectations when people constantly prove me wrong.
So what exactly IS wrong with my image of america? Your not gonna tell me it is a utopian paradise where everyone loves each other, and the state looks after everyones rights? Or that there is no such thing as pain and hardship in this Eden you lot have created?
i'm just curious. I've never been to america, but from most of the accounts i've heard, it ain't that great a place.
