The Boucher Family
Nicole Lemaire
(1595-1652)
Nicole Lemaire was born on March 10, 1595 at Mamers, Lamans, Maine, Sarthe, France; the daughter of Nicolas Lemaire and Marie Gastrie.  She married Gaspard Boucher on December 12, 1619; and the couple had eight children.  Gaspard was born about 1595 at Orne, Mortagne; the son of Jacques Boucher and Francoise Paigne.

Nicole's father had been involved with the Kebec Habitation and when an opportunity presented itself, the young Boucher family signed on as prospective settlers.  Leaving France in the spring of 1635, they landed at Quebec aboard the Saint-Jacques, commanded by Roche-Jacquelin, on July 4, 1635.  They were greeted by Samuel De Champlain who settled them at Saint-Louis, where Gaspard's carpenter skills could be put to good use.  Later he would be employed by the Jesuits at Trois Rivieres, where the family would be granted land.

On June 19, 1652; Nicole perished in a house fire and Gaspard followed ten years later on May 20, 1662.
