Creative Writing Activities
Each team member must complete at least one of the activities listed below.  Feel free to do more options because the finished pieces may be used in the completion of your final project.  Have fun with these activities and feel free to include your own thoughts and feelings about the topic.

1. Write a journal from the point of view of any of the characters in the story.  You could even choose to write the journal from the point of view of the wallpaper itself or from the woman inside the wallpaper.  What would this character be feeling?  What would he, she, or it be writing in its journal?

2. After reviewing some different medical websites, write your own personal diagnosis for the main character.  How would you determine what is causing her "illness" and what are some possible treatments that you would perscribe and why?

3. Write a letter to a character in the story from an imaginary friend (which is you), asking them to participate in some social event or activity of the time.  Persuade this character why they should go with you and what the event has to offer.

4. Pretend that you are the main character's "shrink" and write an entry in your personal journal about her.  What is your take on her marriage (evaluate where she stands as far as roles of women in her time)?  You could also comment on her role as a mother, a wife, a woman in society, or how you think she could help herself get better.

5. Write a short story recommendation, in the form of a Letter to the Editor, about why people should or should not read this story.  What is valuable in this story and what is not worthwhile?  What is your overall opinion of the work and why?
