Returning Volunteers: Early Bird Registration: You can simply fill our an early-bird registration form in April before your leave for the summer. Please e-mail us in August to confirm that your schedule still allows you to continue. New Volunteers: Application process for new tutors Basic qualifications required: Candidates must be female undergraduates under 25 with good interpersonal skills and ready to make a commitment to tutor once a week during the U of T’s regular school year, from September through early May. You may tutor for one or both semesters. Most of the students are in grade 9 through 11 and need tutoring in Math and/or Science and/or English. Math is the subject most frequently requested, and English is least requested. Resume: Please provide a brief resume of yourself in which you indicate your academic interests and most recent marks in Math, Science, Languages (i.e. the subjects you would like to tutor.) Include any volunteer work and extracurricular activities you have done in the past, and the name of three references and their contact information (e-mail or phone number). Cover letter: Explain why you want to volunteer at WEEKdays, what subjects/grades you are willing to tutor, and the day(s) of the week you are available. Completed application form: A photocopy of your transcript of marks should be included: a printout out from ROSI is acceptable. Interview: Interviews are granted immediatley after the open-house/training session. All candidates who fulfill the basic requirements and identify with WEEKday’s philosophy and mission are accepted as tutors on a first come, first served basis. Police Check: Tutors must provide a copy of a recent police check BEFORE the first tutoring session. Acceptance into the Program: Candidates are normally accepted into the program within 3 days of their interview, and are tutoring within 1-3 weeks Online info at the U of T Career Centre Invitation to an Open House: please email WEEKdays to ask for the dates, or keep your eyes open for posters on campus and in the Robarts, Kelly libraries. |
