Another Shot for the Cards
Home
1. St. Louis Cardinals
The defending National League Champions still have a great offense featuring some of baseball's greatese hitters. Their pitching rotation was good last season but is even better after the Cards traded for Mark Mulder. The Cardinals are better than last season and will make a lot of noise in the Central this year.
2. Chicago Cubs
The Cubs didn't make the playoffs last year and they had no help from Sammy Sosa down the stretch. Well, the Cubs then traded Sosa to the Orioles and signed free agent right fielder Jeromy Burnitz. The Cubs have a great starting rotation, maybe the best one in the NL so if they are going to make a run at the playoffs, their starters better come through.

THE REST
The Houston Astros built their team on pitching which will hurt them in 2005 because they have a lackluster starting lineup. The Cincinatti Reds have a good batting order which is built around their outfield but lack starting pitching which will hurt their playoff chances. The Milwaukee Brewers added Carlos Lee over the winter which will help their offense but the Brewers lack a closer and a number 2 starter. The Pittsburgh Pirates last place finish is brought upon by themselves. Everytime they have a good, franchise player, they trade him for more prospects.
