Apart from presenting a paper at the Association for Machine Translation in the Americas (AMTA) conference in Tiburon Village, I was able to visit friends at San Jose State University where I gave a talk at the Computer Science Research Colloquium.
Jon Pearce is faculty there and visited my department at the University of Colombo in my absence in the fall of 2001. In addition, Rukman Senanayake, staff in my department, is now a graduate student at SJSU. I also made friends with Chris Pollett the coordinator of the research colloquium.
