ace and rcuomo1337, the legendary ones on the weezer.com board.

ace is said to be Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, rcuomo1337 claimed to be Rivers Cuomo. Will the real Rivers Cuomo please stand up?

..No one stood up..

It has already been clarified that rcuomo1337 is not Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. He/she is a fraud. (It was also said that rcuomo1337 has been deleted from the .com board, however, today one of our reporters has gotten a PM from rcuomo1337 saying, "show mw your tits.")

However, how did rcuomo1337 get most of the people on the board to believe that he is Rivers Cuomo? What did he do? What kind of strategies did he use?

To be honest, he didn't do much. It's the other posters on the board who were naive and nosy enough to care that believed. Anybody can calim to be Rivers Cuomo, as long as you get some kind of support on the board. Get a few friends to play along and say, "He IS Rivers!! I totally talked to him and he's really Rivers." -- that has to work.

We're not encouraging you to claim to be Rivers on any of the boards, unless you really are Rivers. Pretending to be people is not fun, it's mean, it's stupid and useless. Especially claiming to be a famous person like that on a message board, maybe you'll get deleted, maybe weezer will hate you for being such a moron.

However, that is not the moral of the day. The moral of the day is that... well, maybe that can be the moral afterall--do not pretend to be a famous rock star on the band's message board, you'll get flamed!
