The Problems With What They Say

||||||||||||||||||||||
Not Going to War | ||||||||||||||||||||||
They say that War is not the answer, they say it can be resolved peacefully, they say that Saddam is evil, but not a threat to world peace. First of all, how would they like this to be resolved peacefully? I would prefer to think that if something can be solved, it would take less time then twelve years. I can think of only one way to ensure the safety of the world while not declaring war on Iraq. Many more sanctions.There are two big problems with imposing new sanctions on Iraq; the main one being that it would lead to many unnecessary civilian deaths, and secondly, the hippies want all the sanctions removed. So, sanctions won't work, but is Saddam actually a threat to world peace? Yes, he is. Let's ignore the whole terrorist connection thing; people argue about that all the time. I will even ignore atrocities that he has done to his own people. Lets look at his 100% PROVEN history. In the 1980's Saddam caused a war against Iran because he wanted to expand his territory. He launched chemical weapons on them on a regular basis. Next lets look at Israel, the country that Saddam launches SCUD missles against. Not only that, but he actually pays the families of people who commit suicide bombings there $25000. Next of course we can look at Kuwait. Not only did Saddam invade his defenseless neighbour, but when he did it the atrocities were unthinkible. After invading, public executions became common, with genocide being the main purpose of it. All Jews and Kurds that were found were executed. Schools were turned into torture centres, the national arena became a morgue. Three innocent countries, all ruthlessly attacked by Saddam with NO justification. A threat to the world? YES. So, we have this threat. The UN has been telling him he is bad for 12 years, and has done nothing. We can't put more sanctions on him, that would punish the innocent people there needlessly. The sanctions are already killing innocent people, so is the leader, plus there is the constant threat to the entire region that Saddam poses. What would you do? Put more sanctions on him? Wait to be attacked? Wait for someone else to be attacked? There is no other option. |

The Removal of Sanctions
The idea that the sanctions should be removed is absolutely insane. Without the sanctions, Saddam would be let loose upon the world, with full access to whatever he wants. With sanctions removed Saddam would have even more chemical and biological weapons then he does now, and before long he would have developed nuclear weapons. The quality of life would not improve for his people though. Where as the people would be able to get chlorine, and therefore have purified water; they probably would not get it. His money would go to much more "important" things, and the chlorine would go to making chlorine gas. Removing the sanctions while Saddam is in power is no option.
